This has been on my mind for some time now, but I really thought there would be some kind of rebalance on mobs when there were less than say 3-5 people doing the event.
Typically I solo this as best as I can becasue I’m usually the only one there to do it.
The mobs just keep on flooding in and it’s near impossible for some characters to keep up with the kills and ending up being constantly downed. Having the Revive-r-Tron’s there can help, but not when yourarmour is broken. You get killed even quicker with lack of armour.
It’s like consistently being spawn-camped by mobs that don’t stop flooding in. Can someone please implement some kind of mob control for this event?

If you need to complete the event, like for dailies? Tracking events on that map is hard enough as it is. As for walking away after getting resurrected, I beg to differ. They swarm you and you have that debuff preventing quick movement as well.

I’ve done all of the events on that map solo with the exception of the final ones at the end of each chain. I think that they all are fairly well balanced. Some parts can be a pain, such as after destroying the first batch of hive combs in the Ogre lane, but still manageable.
As far as the event that’s the subject of this thread, it’s not too bad. It’s one of the more difficult ones to solo if you’re not comfortable fighting chak but gets easier as you get used to them. Just keep CC’s ready for those that require it.

The event isn’t part of the Rata Novus event chain. This one is probably more difficult than any of the events that are part of the chain.
The event spawns piles of chak on top of an area that is already full of chak.

I know that it isn’t.
It’s a defend event so there should be continuous chak coming in. I’ve done that myself while waiting for the Gerent meta to start. It’s only a pain when you have multiple veterans that can do that annoying AoE attack.
I also realized that the OP acknowledged it as a group event in the title but is complaining about the difficulty of it being done solo. I don’t thing any of the group events should be brought down so that they can be done solo although this one can be done that way so long as you stay on top of the chak.

Also depends on wandering groups of chak and other stuff … like people wandering by and scaling up the event but not actually joining but that is a problem with every event in the game because while the game can’t wait to drop your participation credit for an event it is overly eager in counting people for scaling purposes. After 4 years the game is still incapable of dynamically scaling “dynamic” events. In HoT it will also start spawning elites at the slightest provocation.
All that aside the golem for that event is also extremely squishy. One or two slingers and it is good as dead.

I wouldn’t mind seeing better scaling for fewer players, but I think the main issue with this one is getting/keeping the robot alive to continue the event. Once it goes down you have to fend off a constant flood of chak to get a few seconds free to revive it. What if the Revive-a-tron robot also helped with this instead of just reviving you?
Having said that, it does make sense that this event requires at least a few people because the event immediately following it is a champion that is extremely difficult to solo. Even if you can hang in there against the chak champion and its swarm of minions, there are many chak bracers and sappers present that are just a pain to take down solo and make the event far more difficult while they’re alive.

this event is clearly buggy., the chack spam is unproportional to any area in the game for a non world boss event.

I agree with the OP: the event is annoying at best unless there are at least a couple of people who know what they are doing. I’ve done it solo and duo and (as others have said), it’s not hard; it’s just stupefyingly dull and I never choose to participate unless I’m killing time waiting for something else.
I don’t have a problem with the theory there are tons of Chak or tons of problems with centuries-old tech misunderstanding who is/is not a foe; it’s just dull.
The OP proposes re-tuning the event to have fewer foes. While that would make the event easier, it wouldn’t make it any more fun (and would, I imagine, just encourage people to stay away and let others solo/duo for them).

Group events
Separate from event scaling, Group Events are different in complexity and/or difficulty from other events of the surrounding area. Group Events are listed in the event assistant with “[Group Event]”, and like other events are marked on the map and compass. As their name implies, they are designed to be done with groups rather than individuals as they are unlikely to be solo-able (though some can be with patience and tactics).

I agree that the event itself is dull but that’s the nature of most of Anet’s events like this. How would you improve it so that it is more engaging but still a group event?

Scale better, or supply non-player actors to fill in the role if needed. For example, I learned that killing the blighting tree in VB could be done solo, almost at the end of the event, when I finally observed that the NPCs were carrying bombs, and I could focus on defending them, not trying to do both.
Sure, they were slower and way less effective than players at it, but it meant that even if I hadn’t been able to summon help, it would have worked.
In the concrete case, the “have the revive-a-tron do the rez” would work, because the player could focus on defense of that rez, instead of having to do it themselves.
Better scaling up, though, would also be a big thing. The couple of times I came across it (and the champ golem at the end of rata novus event chain) after it was started, it was pretty much impossible to recover. Too many support enemies to be able to keep their attention and live, too fast spawning to gradually push them down.
On the other hand, get there at the start and it’s reasonably easy to keep up. So that’s … inconsistent. Not imperfect, not game breaking, but kinda annoying.

Read what I quoted. It’s a group event which surprisingly means that it wasn’t designed to be done solo although some, including this one, can be done so.
Scaling is fine. It wouldn’t be much of a defend event for groups if the density of chak were low.
