Hi. I just returned this past weekend after a 18 month hiatus. I decided to build a Guardian since I already have a zerk warrior and elementalist.

Are Guardians getting a buff in the new expansion? I remember I could destroy PvE content with my warrior build, but wondering how viable a guardian will be, especially for dungeons/fractals. I played tanks in other MMOs and I know GW2 doesn’t have the trinity system, but I am wondering if the tank/heal like skills could actually benefit my teammates in a dungeon or does killing as fast as possible count for more?

Guardians are in a great spot right now and I’m sure they will keep in a great spot after the expansion, you can make one without worries of it being useless or weak compared to other classes.

Guardians will get a big boost to their damage and support. The only “problem” is that they are going to be pigeon-holed into certain weaponry to optimal effectiveness, which kinda sucks.

You can say that about every class. There are tons of weapons classes don’t use because they are bad for them. For example, how often do you see rifle warriors?

Guardians right now already do not use a lot of weapons (scepter, focus, staff, sword, shield). those weapons seem fairly core to almost all Guardians and I doubt it will change with the new XPAC. Gaurdians are very balanced right now and I love the current place they are in. They can lean in almost any direction they want fairly reliably.

Yup, but that’s something that’s been there. My point is these new changes are taking situations where you have a great situation with diversity of weapons and cutting out options thanks to the changes.

I do and love my Gaurdian, I enjoy the shield a great deal especially in PVP when I am running procs off of Aegis. Virtue everyone gets aegis, it blows, more damage, shield, dodge back, shield 4, give all aegis, Greatsword leap in, aoe, Meditation, renew virtues, pop aegis virtue again. Love me some exploding Aegis.

I hope to all that is good and holy that we get Longbow.

Um, am I misreading this or are you saying shield4 gives aegis?
