First and foremost, I want to say that I am really loving Heart of Thorns. I love the fact that you, ArenaNet, have placed Guild Halls into the game, and I would love to get one. But, you see, there’s a problem…

I recall you saying something about how smaller guilds would be able to gain favor just as easily as larger guilds, and with that statement I cheered. Oh boy, did I cheer. My guild consists of six people, though only two of us ever show up online anymore. I am not interested in expanding the number of people in my guild. Neither I nor the other active person has the time to do that (often we are working while we are playing). Additionally, he and I are often not online at the same time — it is rare that this happens anymore due to work schedules. But I want a guild hall because, eventually, my significant other will get the money for his computer and I’d like to be able to play with people I already know and like…and not have to join another guild just to get access to a guild hall.

The problem with obtaining a guild hall for us (and I have talked to others with this same problem) lies with Guild Favor and how to obtain it. I don’t PVP. I don’t WVW. I am sorry, but I absolutely dislike doing them both to the point that I cannot force myself to do it just for guild favor. I won’t. I am a PVE person, and I always have been. The other person in my guild, when he is even up to it, only does PVP/WVW with other guilds because he prefers to give that guild the credit since they are the ones he worked with to gain the goals. I do not hold this against him, nor do I expect him to represent my guild just to gain Favor. So that leaves PVE.

But…well… It seems that just plain ol’ PVE is not an option unless you “unlock it” (which i find absolutely ridiculous). And thus far, it looks like the only PVE option you -can- do to earn favor is a Bounty Hunt.

I think that you, ArenaNet, might have forgotten that not everyone has a large enough guild to do group content. I think that you might have forgotten that not everyone is willing to invite random strangers into their private guilds just to participate in Guild Bounties/Puzzles/etc. I think that you might have also forgotten that not everyone is a PvP-er or WvW-er (things that you -can- do without your guild support). I do understand that you are trying to encourage guilds to work together, and I do commend that. But…well… what about the rest of us?

So I have a question for you, ArenaNet. Why is it that you decided that a guild has to “unlock” PVE with Favor just to use it to gain favor? It’s frustrating, really. You have to find a way to earn favor so that you can unlock the only option you have to gain favor. You made a statement that little guilds would not be left out. And yet, I feel like we are left out. Please know that I am not whining. I just would like an answer, and to be heard, to let you know how I and some of the other guilds feel.

Thank you for your time.

You don’t.

use the gear icon at the top of the mission panel, tell it you only want to recieve pve missions. At the next reset and from there on you will only ever receive pve missions.

Many of the easy/medium ones are totally soloable, and for the rest keep in mind if you have the mission active and are eligible for credit (e.g. tagged the bounty, rand the race course at least once, etc.) your guild will receive full credit.

What’s more, because these missions cost nothing to attempt, don’t require unlocking anything, and can be repeated as many times as you like, it is actually far easier to get rewarded for doing them than before.

Yeah, I’ve gotten almost 1k favor just from doing 2 of the rushes, completing them only once (other guilds were doing them at the same time too, but I was the only one repping mine), and in the bigger guild I’m part of, we immediately set it to the PvE preference, as PopeUrban said.

The ‘new and improved’ Guild Interface is actually a pretty massive mess in several key areas. It needs more tooltips and information to explain things.

WAY too many alts to list here.

My guild does most of this with 1-2 parties and given that you can select a preference it makes it even more attainable if that option is used.

I do have it set to PVE preference. Unless they’ve made Bounties easier, though, I’m likely still screwed. I’m not exactly the best at those things but I will attempt it again. That doesn’t answer my question about the PVE lock, though. Only ArenaNet can answer that, and I’m really hoping for an answer.

You don’t need favor to begin gaining favor; you just need to do the same missions that used to cost upgrades + influence. That allows you to earn favor to apply towards whatever upgrades that interest you.

The only thing that’s changed is that you don’t get favor passively (the way we got influence); you always have to focus on gaining it (whereas influence accrued from logins and from doing dungeons, events, etc together). Admittedly, that’s a big philosophical change in how guilds gain currency and it might take some time to get used to.

yes bounty is only one target with extended time. Tuned down.

And with that you get 300 favor.

Our Guild has had a similar problem, we selected PvE missions but we can’t actually trigger any of them because our guild level isn’t 10 yet. How can we raise our Guild Level without Favor, Influence, or Missions? Our guild has done missions in game before, but now we’re unable to do them because somebody decided that easy guild bounty needed to be level 10, and that doesn’t seem okay. I believe there should always be a basic mission available that a guild can at least attempt, rather than being locked out of content for a week or more. What do we need to do to get access to guild missions again, and will this happen to us next week as well?

So is personal guild now completely FUBAR? You used to be able to represent in a 100% rep guild and still make a personal guild.

I took a look just now with a new guild… cost of bank was 1000 favor, which would have to be with something like the PvP stronghold mission. But firstly to do said mission would violate the 100% rep. To add insult to injury, it said 3 people required.
