Where can you find out what basic decorations this tier has? i’ve been searching and can find nothing but the materials required to unlock it. I’d like some idea of what it has to offer before i solo dump those mats into the guild as no one else seems to be working on it in my guild.

You don’t need to buy the merchants anymore. The upgrade just buys it at the market for half the price.

All basic decorations are available at the Scribe Master NPC Cullen.

It gives you the last ones you are currently missing. However i would highly recommend to not bother with it since it costs a lot of mats to unlock it and the only benefit is that you can then buy those basic decorations for 26 silver less (24 s instead of 50 silver)

In case you did not know, with the April patch, all basic decorations can be bought for 50 silver at the master scribe. (you do not need any guild hall decoration merchant at all for that).

Instead you might want to work on the guild trader instead as the guild trader 4 gives you a few decorations (that are on rotation) which you can not get from anywhere else see https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Sigurlina_Jonsdottir#Items_offered for the list of which ones he offers

The only thing the guild hall decoration merchant unlock now does is make the decorations cheaper to buy ( you can buy them at him for 24 silver when unlocked) However, the master scribe always sells them for 50 silver, EVEN if you have the decroration merchant unlocked so you always have to walk to him to buy them cheaper.

Yes, as mentioned, the vendor provide the items at half the price the scribe provide. If you are a huge fan of deco-ing the guild hall, this half price is worth it since high quality deco can be expensive at long run.

With the current TP prizes, the materials required to unlock decorations merchant 3 costs about 410 gold. That means that you need to buy over 1500 basic decorations to make your gold back…………………..

So its gonna be a LOONGG run…..

I would recommend any guild since the april patch to only unlock decoration merchant 1 (as you need it for guild trader 4) and forget about the others until you are nearly done with upgrading for this reason. You could debate the T2 decorations merchant, but T3 with its 2k elder wood planks requirement (+300 sandpaper and 300 linseed oils) is just not worth it atm.

Well you say that. But once you want a few decorations that cost multiple basic decorations. Like a row of candles. Then its “only” 166 rows of candles you can make with 1500 basic decorations. Or with god statues, only 60. (because 25 basic boulders)

Not saying that that proves anything. But it can go fast once you go deep.

Impossible due to technical limitation. Probably because each item goes through the processing system, which doesn’t allow multiples atm.

You mean with the selector they added recently for bulk purchase?

Yea, wont ever let me change it from 1, though I’ve only tried on the actual basic deco merchant.

HUGELY Dissapointed.
So i had thought my guild wasn’t working on this. Only i an one or two others were, so i was farming mats like crazy to get enough. Then i log in today and they tell me they got it! yay! i go to look and see what new items are available and NOTHING!!! i’m trying to figure out what all those mats did and i don’t see anything initially. I log back on to forums to check my 4 day old post as the searching before yielded no explantion of what dec merchant 3 did, only to find out ALL IT DID WAS LOWER THE COST 26 cents. REALLY!?!?! what a waste.

I was expecting new basic decorations like when it went from dec merchant 1 to dec merchant 2 and you got (balloons, torches, candles, flag post, basic column, fountain and lowered the cost of the initial dec 1 merchant items). so sad. all it did was lower the cost? I love to decorate and costs were getting a bit much since basically its a INDIVIDUAL gold sink for your guild. Maybe i’m missing some post that explains all what scribe does and how to obtain everything for guild halls and what each thing does, cause i don’t see it.

I hope this whole scribe thing gets updated in the next qrtly patch or two because it needs to be seriously looked at.

edit: on a second look thur the decorations craftable it does look like some new things are avalibe to craft, but i’m not positive as i’ve already maxed scribe and maybe didn’t look closely.

and since you can only place 1000 items it seems poorly thought through. Clear example of how this needs to be updated. Sure its a gold sink, but the cost to unlock shouldn’t be TONS! more then the amount to “make your money back” and have it feel worth it.

Well, I would say that would basically be leeching. I don’t think that should be encouraged.

As for your observations on the cheaper basic decorations merchant. This has been changed in the April quarterly update. At first you needed to buy the unlock but you don’t have to anymore, now it just makes them cheaper to buy at the market merchant.

ALL basic decorations are available from the scribe NPC “Cullen” as soon as you build the workshop restoration 1. The Decoration Merchant upgrade unlocks a cheaper option in the market NPC for half the price.

Well then the decoration merchant upgrade cost of materials required to unlock needs to be lowered because this feature is basically worthless.

What is really annoying with this upgrade is that Cullen continues to sell everything at 50s even if after you get the upgrades. -_-

Decorations. All decorations are property of the guild. There is no concept of personal ownership for guild hall decorations, whos only purpose is to decorate the guild’s hall.

Perhaps in the future they’ll expand the system to some kind of decoratable personal housing, but for the time being there is no such thing.

It rotates the decorations to maintain a sense of rarity, and to further reward upgrading the trader for more purchases per day. Yes, it’s more difficult to acquire things this way, but that’s the entire point.

Agreed. I don’t understand why you need 2 NPCs who sell the same things at two different prices at all. It’s like they want you to mess up deliberately.

if you look at some of the high quality decos, it actually requires multiple basic decos. So, reaching 1.5k might not really be super long. Generally, most people are not huge fan of decoing the guild hall, most just wan to deco a small part of it.

Yep. They should drop Cullen’s prices to concide with your upgrades just like they updatesd his list when you unlocked new basic decos before the patch.
