So what happens to players who do not buy HoT but their guild has a guild hall. Do they have access to the hall or are they not able to use it?

In this article it says once the hall is claimed you get a button on your Guild panel to travel to it. I’d hope they could, and maybe just hit “strong currents” if they tried to head out into the jungle from the hall.

Until someone official actual says they can I am assuming they can’t.

I asked this for a friend of mine who doesn’t like using the forums. Roughly half his guild are not buying the expansion. He is worried this will cause the non buyers to leave and start a new guild, which he worries would cause what is left of his guild to fall apart.

On a related note, are guild halls cross-zone accessible (NA/EU)? Will I as one of only a few EU players in a mostly NA guild
a) be able to access the guild hall?
b) see all the upgrades from the NA players?
c) finally be able to meet those NA players, at least within the guild hall?

Not making it a core feature would split the player base and be a really dumb move to make. But then, Anet likes to make dumb moves so… they’ll probably be behind the xpack pay wall.

The fact is that not everyone is going to buy the expansion immediately. And if getting the guild hall is a one-time event, then people are going to miss participating in it. Will this cause some to buy HoT earlier? Yeah. But a lot more are going to feel left out. Over all, not a good thing, considering Guild loyalty and cohesion is pretty lacking in this game.
