I’ve been thinking this, it has logic.

To be fair: the ‘Guild Wars’ refers to a historic event within the GW lore:

Still, one would expect you can fight as a guild vs other guild, which was actually possible in GW1. Don’t know why they never introduced that. Anet seems to be good at things people want but don’t get.

as protogunner said, the series is called guild wars because the guild wars were directly or indirectly responsible for all the mess the world is in (some can argue they even changed the elder dragons’ behavior), it has nothing to do with the acts of ingame guilds fighting another

The OP might also wonder that Greenland is icier than Iceland, that Karl Marx wasn’t a Marxist, and that Stainless Steel can stain. Names are sometimes more about how something sounds or for historical reasons or marketing reasons.

I can understand people wanting to see GvG in this game; I just don’t think it’s useful to appeal on the basis of the game’s name.

Yeah, it’s not useful to point at the name of the game and ask for new features based on it.

Instead, focus on what the developers have communicated is helpful: why is this fun? How do you envision it working?
