It would be pretty great if you could do the same thing you do in crafting station discovery panels (Show all accepted materials including bank storage for drag and drop) at the panel for donating to guild hall instead of having to have it in your inventory. Seems like it should be possible as they already do it and I am pretty sure some people would be more willing to embrace it then when they realised they had some useless unused stuff in storage that could help the guild.
