So I just decided to get a few XP in Scribing, crafted basic items, bought basic decoration and got unpleasantly surprised when I found out that the leader switched permissions to use resources off….
Am I the only one who thinks that items you pay for should be available to you or not for sale at all?
Anyways, I think one of the following rules should be implemented:
A. Vendors do not sell decorations you cannot use to craft.
B. Account Bound, possibly “Guild Bound” (something new that could be implemented) version of the item is placed into your inventory, which you are then free to craft with or deposit to guild bank.
C. Some kind of message explicitly stating that the buyer cannot use the item if he/she doesn’t have the permissions.
On another note, the shops selling decorations probably need a warning stating that all decorations go to guild storage and not inventory.

Yea. Id say C definitely.
People still might want to donate those.
I would just talk to your guild leader though. I know I would totally let any members that simply ask to decorate and scribe do exactly that.
Just all the silent members who want to and are still in the new member rank I have no clue about so if they really want to they need to speak up really.
If your guild leader doesn’t let you, I would nearly say to just leave and find another.

I think C. There should be a confirmation box when you buy basic decos if you don’t actually have the guild rank to use them.
People should have the ability to donate, but since it seems certain individuals can’t be bothered to actually research scribing or pay attention to Cullen’s warning about scribing when they learn it, we could use another step of idiot-proofing.
I’m sick of seeing posts about people complaining that they don’t actually understand how decorations work and then get mad that they can’t craft/use decorations. This could use a QOL step so we can just say “You got a warning box.”
That said, this isn’t a systemic issue. It’s a guild issue. The system works fine as is. Certain people just expect it to be something it isn’t. It’s not a personal crafting disc for personal use. It’s a guild discipline that requires guild permissions, guild space, and primarily crafts things usable and owned by guilds.

O please not an other conformation box…. i agree that the system is different from the other merchants in game as things go straight to the guild but please use something else.
I would prefer a red line at the decoration merchant/master scribe, next to the buy button that states this. If possible the message should only show up when you do NOT have permission from the guild to use them (else i have to explain to all our scribing guests that they have that permission)
In our guild i just gave everyone permission to use them… for the decorations its not a big deal to be honest (just place stuff you really want to keep in the hall and they can’t be used). However sadly the permission is also tied to the guild banners /WvW siege. As a result… we don’t have many in stock as they get used by random members.
Would be great is this could be split between permission to use crafted decorations+ basic decorations and usage (from the guild window) of banners/wvw siege.
The problem is then what do you do with banners which you can use to craft better banners? (for example karma banner and XP banner into karma+xp banner). I would propose to treat these as decorations (so scribes can use them to make upgraded banners) but they can not be used form the guild window to be put in the world.
For this the permission to use the processor could be re-used as that could be combined with the permission to use decorations (since crafting times are now only 30 sec or max 2 min or so) and resonance has been removed. In this way we get 1 permission that grands acces to all the things a scribe would need (both decoration usage as well as the ability to complete the decoration in processing which makes it availeble for further upgrading through scribing (when possible)
The 2nd permission could then be tied to the permission to use banners and wvw siege prints from the guild window storage.
In that way more guilds would probably not mind to give more members permission to scribe stuff.
Why not a living story intro to guild scribe that tells everyone its “for the guild” not you individually. I think the problem is when people heard about how they could decorate the guild hall, many thought they could decorate their own personal nook or space along with beautifying the shared spaces. The problem is it’s not really about the individual at all and that notion should never of been brought into this context. While you can do that, decorations are limited, you need guild privledges, and you might find out your guild leader sucks.
Like many before me have said, this idea hasn’t been implemented well.
Too many want to be able to decorate their own space. Something like in Arch Age or other games that allow you to build a home and decorate it, that’s what people want going to the sandboxy side. Guild Scribe is not this.
It may of been better instead of leveling a guild scribe on a toon instead to level it as a station in a guild. The station like upgrades would be permanent to a guild and if someone leaves you don’t lose your scribe. Plus everyone would be able to craft things based on the guilds scribing level. Additional guild storage specifically for scribing mats (which maybe is another upgrade in itself hint hint) and could be given permissions as to who could withdraw them based on what rank, might of been a better way to implement this. It still could be but then maybe a refund to all who have already maxed leveled scribe(as many have solo leveled it with out their guilds help.)
I also notice alot of decorations seem to have been pulled from old content and the new halls don’t really match with them. As i was wandering around Divinity’s Reach Salma district today and realized this Plus I believe the Lost Precipce cheaper Sandstone Pillars for example are a stage before the more expensive Gold Pillars that fit better with Gilded Hollow. So if your on the poor side, LP is the way to go for cheaper decorations apparently. Seems biased?
Basically guild scribe is a personal “Gold Sink” that only benefits your guild. (and then the guild leader kicks you after you’ve crafted a bunch of stuff) enjoy!
