Guild wars2 to guild wars 2 HOT
Missing the point bruh, the base game in the expansion is just a bonus, it does not add any price to HoT, with out without the base game included it would still be 50 bucks.
You can buy just the expansion by purchasing it through the in-game store.
(it is however the exact same price and product as what you’d find on the website)
I don’t understand this, regardless of how you phrase it.
The way it’s phrased in the store, old players have to buy the same game twice just to enjoy the expansion.
The way Omega Zoa phrases it, new people coming to GW2 essentially get an entire free game with every purchase, while old players get nothing (well, one character slot – big whoop).
Either way, it seems like the oldest, most loyal players, who’ve been here since day one get shafted in favor of attracting new players.
Thanks for nothing, I guess.
Try and look at this from a developer/game health perspective. Once the expansion drops, the base game will have very little value to ANYONE. Existing players shouldnt want people to only buy the base game because it will mean fewer people to play with in the new zones. New players obviously want the entire game to gain access to the new systems in place.
Continuing to sell the base game without HOT makes no sense to anyone. The logical solution is to bundle it all together into one sales package – which is exactly what they are doing.
New players aren’t being cheated out of anything. Existing players definitely aren’t being cheated out of anything.
People need to let this argument go. Anet is doing what is best for the health of the game – for both new and existing players. Stop going out of the way to feel offended by something that simply isnt offensive (in fact, its the opposite).

Yes that’s called marketing, just like you pay the game of the year edition of a game 10 $/€ with all the dlcs while somes bought the game a year before at a price of between 30 and 50 without any DLC.

The oldest, most loyal players got to play the game for 3 years, and got content and feature updates for free where players of most other big mmos had to pay a monthly fee to even play.

The heroic edition was on sale for $10 while they were advertising HoT. The character slot has a $10 value. What new players are getting for free is the core GW2 game. For comparison, the heroic edition is the core GW2 game plus $20 worth of bonuses.
