in order to get this item for the 4th HOPE collection you have to beat a champion that spawns after a failed event.

i thought anet removed such items from the legendary collections.

That event fails all the time though. That quaggan is up almost every time I pass that location

i’ve been waiting for 4 hours for that event to fail and always somebody sows up does the event in a minute and leaves

I felt your pain on that. The first time I tried to do it, the daily was frostgorge events, so as you can imagine the prior event never failed. The second time I tried to do it it was during the evening EST, during what I imagine are peak playing hours. Again, no luck, as people continued to finish the event and not let it fail.

My solution was to log on Sunday morning at 8 am EST and keep my fingers crossed. Thankfully it worked, as I only had to warn off two people, and mercifully both of them listened to me. One was even nice enough to stick around and help me kill the champ.

But I agree with you, I thought the devs had mentioned doing away with collection items that required previous events to fail. Apparently they haven’t gotten to this one yet.

I think this one didn’t get reported with the other ones that did get fixed. OTOH, it has been reported since, so Matt’s not off the hook.

What worked for me and several other players was to check in during the Claw of Jormag fight. He seems to spawn close to the same time, and the Claw will draw everyone else’s attention to the other side of the map.

I don’t think the spawn is on any sort of fixed schedule that would make it coincide with the Claw’s spawn. What is probably happening is that you end up in a newly generated instance because of all the people going for the Claw event. If you don’t get it before Claw it is probably a good idea to go after Claw as well. Chances are that the map you are on will get closed due to low population and at that point there should be much fewer people on the map to “interfere”.

I had failed twice to get the quaggan (it was a bad day to even be trying), and I ended up getting into a different instance than the other people waiting with me. The quaggan appeared for us both during the Claw fight; I know that’s still potentially a coincidence but it does lead some credence to the event being scheduled.
