The hot maps reduce FPS by a lot compare to the Tyria maps. Is anet making any plan to optimize it?

I sure hope so. Take my spec for instance:

  1. FX-6350
  2. GTX 460
  3. 8 GB RAM
  4. 64bit-Client

Set graphics to max. (Yes, you can play without much FPS loss at max graphics in certain areas.)Then go to the hole in Tarir, which leads to the underground of the city, jump through it and try to activate your glider. There is maybe a 20% chance not to die. And I think on a higher spec, it isn’t that much better.

The big issue on both my old PC and my new PC (which is higher spec than Kaligos’ one) is the smoke. I can still get 50-60 fps, but as soon as I get into an area with heavy smoke or fire, then it goes off like a yoyo.

There are only a few places that give me issues but the main one is the lower part of TD where all the Chak are, My PC goes mental when I first enter this part of the map.

I don’t know what it is about that area below Tarir, but jumping down into there hits me with a massive FPS drop and it’s essentially a coin flip as to whether it will go away soon enough for my glider to deploy or if I die.

I don’t know how anet can optimize HOT, maybe reducing the texture quality (what the system see) while maintaining the visual quality (what we can see).

However, it is clearly that HOT is more resource demanding than tyria. It is questionable why anet continue to advise the same old system requirements when the demand clearly has increased.
