i have a major concern about this expension.

GW2 is going to be 3 years old at august, which means the 50$ i payed for it were worth 3 years of playing a constantly improving and changing game, resulting in a great money value, more then any other game i ever bought so far.

my concern is that once i buy this expension, will i keep getting constant updates of living story and world changing events? (up untill now there has been about 30 contant updates + balance updates and such) because according to the PAX south revealed content, it does NOT worth a full priced PC game. im certian that the new content will include many sub-features not mentioned yet, but if all the major features were the ones introduced in the event they held (and i believe those are going to be the only major feature) it just dosent worth it.

so, will the new expension supply the players with constant updates for the next couple of years? if it does, then there is a reason to buy it for a full price. but if not, and they are just going to develop only the magumma jungle throughout the entire period of this expension without any changes to the original world, then for my opinion it does not worth it…

I can see where you are going with this question but I don’t see why they would stop making changes to the living world. It’s a huge part of the main game.

I seriously doubt ANet will stop updating the game via Living Story content. If they decide to only update the game, purely via expansions, they’ll see a nosedive in people playing.

Already bad enough people complain about waiting two weeks to a month between updates.

Six months to a year for an expansion? Or longer? Not a chance in hell.

Again, Living Story has kept a lot of players around. If that goes, so will those players. Let’s not kid ourselves about that.

The ‘expansion’ is a bone they’re throwing to the “I want an expansion” crowd that complained nonstop over the last year across the forums. So, since people want it that badly, ANet would be fools not to take their money.

The ironic part is, if Heart of Thorns was Living Story, downloadable content for free, you’d have tears it wasn’t an expansion . . . even though it’s the same product.

Labeling seems to have made quite a few people happy around here.

Keep in mind that LS is done by a separate team than most of this expansion. So it would be highly possible to continue both means of upgrading.

i get what you are all saying, but my concern is that the LS won’t be as huge as it was up untill now. what if they will give us about 10 episodes of LS and then they will make us buy the next expension? how much time will HOT content survive untill the next expension? that is my real fear – the never ending expensions

Sadly, you may be right. We don’t know yet. But that’s appears to be what the ‘expansion’ camp wants. They’re under the impression that Living Story doesn’t give as much content, over time, as an expansion will instantly.

I’ll not debate that questionable logic, but we’ll see in the coming months ahead what ArenaNet will do.

It’ll determine if more than a few of us stick with the game.

i got to tell you, i didn’t know so many people were expension obbsessed in GW community… so far a LS every two weeks was much more then enough, it was the main reason i bought this game. it saddens me to hear that people perfer an expension just because the name it holds.
don’t get me wrong though. an expension can justify it’s name if it is worth much. but as far as i can see up untill now, HOT dosent seem to bring much for a paid expension. (it will ofcourse be worth it’s price considering the price is fair enough, which none of us can tell at the moment since in the FAQ they say pricing wasn’t determined yet. lets hope Anet, or more precisly NCsoft, is not greedy as other MMO’s developers)

I’m glad that LS was enough for you, but it wasn’t for most people. It would have been enough if it had any replay value at all, but you played it once to unlock the achievements and once to finish them and that’s about it for most people.
