Q:
HOW many maps are there? How big are they?
Ok, the eagle has landed and by today surely some powergamers have seen pretty much everything, or close to it.
I know these “sandwich maps” are hard to compare to the “old” maps, but then again maybe not?
Looking at the Grove city map, it is about a quarter of DR but in 4 layers.
Is it pretty much the same in this expansion, but how many stand-alone maps are there actually?

A:
Verdant Brink is one of 4 maps. So there is plenty of new pve content.
Size wise, they are at least as big as the other maps. The verticality makes them bigger in a way, however if we take VB as an example, the canopy content is massively smaller than the middle floor content. So whilst it is a huge amount of fun to glide these big open spaces, there isn’t a huge amount in the big open spaces content wise apart from bosses which appear as part of the meta.
Overall, if you take into account the content across all 3 biome layers, take into account the main level is pretty path like, then I’d say you are looking at map sizes comparable to a core zone, with generally more to do than say SW or DT.
This might help you:
On the upper right corner there’s an eye-icon. Use the slider it provides to cycle through the different layers. If the slider doesn’t react to your mouse cursor use the arrow keys on your keyboard instead.
good luck & have fun
The amount of content seems OK to me. If you’re trying to decide whether to buy or not, the main thing you need to be aware of is that virtually all of the PvE content is delivered in the form of ‘actions’ similar to Dry Top and the Silverwastes. If that sort of thing isn’t to your taste, you’re kind of shafted at the moment.
I´m trying to figure out if this Verdant Brink map I keep hearing about, is indeed all the new PvE content in this expansion.
Gw2timer doesn´t help any, btw.
I just keep seeing blurry tiles no matter how much I scroll in and around.

Like I said. Click on the eye-icon, then click on the zoombar and use the arrowkeys to cycle through the different layers. It works for me. That means it should work for you.
No, Verdant Brink is not the only PvE-map. There are three more.

Ah, OK. That’s easy to answer. There are four story acts, each of which corresponds to its own map.
Verdant Brink is not the only map. There are 4 total, and Verdant Brink is the worst of them in my opinion, and my friends agree. The content is in the same vein as Dry Top and Silverwastes with map-wide meta event chains, but theres a lot more in each map. Every map has several areas with their own storylines and quest chains.
