I have a feeling HoT release date was set due to Halloween, to possibly spread players out a bit across maps and make it more smooth for servers, instead of all rushing to maguuma. What ya think? Only downside for many is that HoT will be prioritized which can leave Halloween more in the shadow.

I don’t think HoT’s release date was set due to Halloween, nor that Halloween’s dat was set due to HoT. Instead I think the date was set due to both Halloween and HoT.

That’s probably not true since there are a lot players who don’t have HoT (such as all the F2P players). Furthermore, if there are bugs/crashes associated with HoT content and features (which tends to happen on launch days) then HoT players will probably also play Halloween.

Everyone seems to have forgotten free to play players, who can’t do HoT. Halloween is a great selling tool to get people to convert to paid accounts.

I bought HoT, and the way I see it; HoT will be here for a looong time, Halloween event will only be available for a few weeks… Soooo I’m going to focus on getting the ascended piece from the event first.

Same. HoT is permanent, while Halloween is temporary. Gotta do all the temp content before doing permanent (even if I wind up being behind in HoT). Also gotta grind the Halloween stuff, cause you know Anet loves its bullkitten low rng chances.

Typical ANET releases are on Tuesday which is when Halloween normally would have been released. It was set to Friday to align with HoT.

That said, releasing them together made sense:
1. Easier to create the launch package vs having a launch Tuesday and then another Friday.
2. Gives non HoT buyers some new content.

My guess is still that they’re being released the same cause Halloween will have some kind of HoT-related content.
