Halloween and the xpac
This is actually a good point with LA all different, they’d have to redecorate it at the very least.
If they are cheap about it they can always dump few decorations in the Crown Pavilion area of DR and call it a day like they did for Wintersday last time around. I hope they don’t though. Also would be kinda nice to get something fresher than having to redo the same “halloween story” for a third time. Halloween was kind of big deal due to its ongoing story elements before.
Exactly, with a newly designed LA they cant just re use the previous ‘’decorations.’’ Although not the biggest deal, it would still bum me out to not get a Halloween event.
From a recent interview:
MMORPG: Will we continue to see Lion’s Arch undergo transformations during the holiday events? If so, will the decorations be taken in new directions?
Steven: I’d personally love to see Halloween continue to take place in Lion’s Arch but with the rebuilding having just been completed, I don’t think any final plans have been made for holidays yet.
Dave: Halloween and the Mad King have always had deep ties to Lion’s Arch and will hopefully continue for many years to come. With the re-work of the city layout we’ve also created enough new spaces for future events and additional areas for players to gather and celebrate together for any occasion.
And from the Hidden Arcana on the redesign:
I asked Dave how the redesign might affect official in-game holidays as well, and he explained that Halloween will remain in Lion’s Arch since it has strong roots in the city. However, Wintersday will continue to be celebrated in Divinity’s Reach, since it is a human holiday at its core. Events will take place where they fit best, rather than simply designating Lion’s Arch as the holiday hub.
All im getting from those interviews is ’’it’s possible.’’

From Steven’s comment you can almost hear the perhaps not this year creeping in there. It seems almost like a cautious no without actually saying so. Then Dave is like, we’d want it but then doesn’t really make it seem any more or less likely for this coming Halloween but that the city was rebuilt with events in mind (see the, thankfully rejected “Festival Plaza” for Lion’s Court as its new name).

How it Wintersday a human holiday when it’s based around helping an Asura deliver toys to all of Tyria?
That said, when are we going to get Norn, Asuran and Char Holidays?
OT, I hope the new LA gives us a new Halloween too.

That’s what it evolved into but not how it started: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Wintersday

The festivities are currently based around helping asura deliver the toys. The holiday is based around the yearly battle between Dwayna and Grenth that decides how soon the winter shall end.
(notice, how this friendly contest between human gods once affected the climate on massive scale. How far have the Five Gods fallen under new Anet management). Of course, with the gods withdrawn from the mortal realm, their divine messengers no longer preside over festivities, which gives an opportunity some crafty people (and Asuras) managed to use.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
Not getting Halloween this year would be an extra big bummer considering we’ve been in a content drought for 7 months now!
