I just started the Magisters Pack collection recently and have been trying for the strap repeatedly but I have been unable to find a map going for T4 at night. It happens during the day often, but the time is pretty short at night and the events don’t seem to move the needle very much.

I tried to do some taxiing as well as look for taxis but they don’t seem to be working/active for this map at night. Any ideas?

I play in Australia and I’ve hit meta at nights, so I’m guessing you’ve just been unlucky. That said, I haven’t seen a strap drop, even on the rare occasions we get the meta. At least I don’t remember seeing it.

You need to have the collection open to get the strap and it will only drop once for you. I just have not seen a night map get even close to T4, only T3 at best and often not even T2. How many commanders do you need? There are so many camps to try and cover, I am curious what the best strategy is.

You don’t really need commanders at all, but you do need map communication. One of the issues I’ve had is that if there’s one commander he gets most people and not enough people read map chat to go to where they’re needed. They just hang out with the commander.

I had a commander tag up once and switched it off, because too many people were following me. Then I went to a different outpost and switched it on again, got some people there and switched it off again.

You only really need 3-4 people at each outpost to defend. That’s enough. But people have to be at those outposts. And they have to actively upgrade between defenses.

I have tried a few strategies myself. At first I would stay at one camp and try and do nearby events, but that doesn’t work so well at many camps as there seems to be little activity so I tried just roaming, which got me many more events but left camps undefended and they would just fall.

I also tried popping my tag, but not knowing what the best thing to do was all I could do was gather a crowd. Many tags let people know the map is ‘organized’ and lack of tags seems to indicate no one cares about the meta and everyone is just trying to get help with HPs.

How many camps are there and how many need to be at what level to get T4? What impact do the boss battles have on the map level?

There are five main camps. The trick is to get the defenses on those camps up by running supply to them between defending them. The more minor camps, I believe, are less important. I believe you need to defend all the primary rally points. They have circular icons on the map and say primary pact rally point when you mouse over them. There’s one on noble ledges, one south of the Jaka Itzel waypoint, one near the pact encampment waypoint, one by Dry Step Mesas and I can’t find the last one on the map, but there are five.

If you can defend the five primary pact rally points without losing them (and upgrade them), you’ll get to tier 4. Then you just have to kill all five bosses.

That’s really the whole deal.

Using taxis is the way to go. That said, you want to have everything set up before night falls, if at all possible. Try to organize your map during the day to complete all the event chains then, as you need to have those chains done to open up all the camps to defend at night. Periodically taxi people advertising attempts at T4 Day/T4 Night as you go. Then as night approaches, try to encourage players to split up among all the camps. If you’ve been able to taxi in other players who want T4 Night, then you’ll have people sharing your goal and they should be willing to split up as needed.

It’s just about finding those like-minded players. If you get enough people who want the rewards for T4, they’ll make it happen. The whole map doesn’t need to be on the same page, but if enough of it is, you’ll be fine.

I don’t think it’s required, but it’s recommended. It’ll happen anyway if you have enough players to get to night T4.
If you really want to get to a Verdant Brink map that’s going to make it to night T4, look in the LFG tool. I’ve used this to join several maps that later completely succeeded.

I tried that many times this weekend but I guess I was not lucky enough to look at the correct time. My attempts to taxi people in was even less successful.

Yeah I saw that too. Made me laugh.

The main issues with T4 day/night in VB is with the Mellagan’s Swirl or w/e far west WP that is. What I did to help was to taxi in people at the beginning of day cycle with the clear intention of doing that series of events. Once that cycle gets completed and people stay for T4 night (with constant taxi’ing from map), it should be easy enough to complete with clear communication.

Is getting t4 at night the criteria for getting the item? Because that’s dumb as all hell.

I figured it was just “kill all the canopy bosses” (a significantly more attainable goal), but I was on a map that did that and still didn’t get it.

Yep the meta is not to lose any of those outposts. It’s not hard it just requires coordination because people don’t know what to do. Also there’s no guarantee on the coat box even if you do win. It’s like the coat box in Vine Wrath.

The only thing that makes it hard is people not understanding what needs to be done. I’m almost positive Anet is going to do something to fix this when the fixes to the new content come out. I’m not sure what they’ll do, but they should do something.

I managed to get on a good map tonight and we got the T4 night meta. It’s very discouraging at first as we spread out well and I think we had level 5 camps everywhere but the map status was only T2. Killing all the bosses somehow got us to T4 and we even had almost 10 minutes to spare.

You are guaranteed to get a coat box from the T4 night meta.

The canopy bosses are an awfully large portion of the meta progress. Killing all five of them should give you around a level and three quarters, so if you’re partway through T2 when they appear, your map is set.

If you wind up a little bit short after killing the bosses, you can still run supplies, escort soldiers and kill rampaging Mordrem to get the last boost needed. But then, on the flip side, a map that’s defended all its camps well can wind up pushing the progress bar halfway up again in T4, or even farther.
