Guild Wars 2

My sister graciously purchased HOT for both me and my husband, and the CDs arrived sealed, with no activation codes in them. The paper inside has no indication that there ever was an activation code included.

The disk starts up the launcher, but doesn’t ask for a key or ask if I want to sync anything to my account or anything. Is this right? Should I just let it download all 30+ gigs of the game and find out?

When the bar reached “Playable”, I logged in, and there was no indication that HOT was added to my account.

If you had the original game you shouldn’t really have had to install anything else at all, just add a code. Code is usually, in the old days anyway, on the envelope the CD comes in.

You have most likely bought them from some unreliable source, which was selling the cd’s without ever mentioning that without key those are worthless (happens if you buy the game off sites that sell used games, or, for example, ebay or similar sources).

If it’s not the case, contact the seller and ask about explanation. If it’s not forthcoming, request a refund.

As Vayne mentioned, there’s really nothing useful on cd’s (you can download the game off GW2 webpage). It’s the key itself that is important.
