I have a question.
Does anybody know, how Heart of Thorns will influence on base game ?
I mean that whether or not I have to buy this expansion, to get updates on lore and other aspects of the game ?

HOT is serving as a continuation of the Living Story Season 2 by adding a new map(s), bosses and other content for those who have already experienced it as well as people who are either new to the game or old players returning. You have to buy the expansion (Price:TBD) in order to access this content unfortunately.

At least some of the dev statements seem to imply, that the core areas of the game will no longer be changed at all, and future changes will be limited to HoT (and possible next expansions) regions.

Except mastery lines. Those will be added in. And areas to unlock masteries. Those will be added in. And the devs have stated that they might want to add in some of the new things in HoT zones into the base zones. Plus the updates to Fractals coming with their mastery line. Also Precursor hunting.

The core area of the game will be getting updated in this expansion. Is it as much as new areas and areas to come? No. Is it being ignored? No.

Okay, you got me, not HoT regions. HoT expansion. Which means there likely won’t be any changes that might affect people that didn’t buy HoT.

Yeah that there just insults the loyal player base. I have been scouring the forums and official website since expansion announcement. For last one month I have stopped visiting anymore because Anet is kittenedly slow with the reveal info. Information is not even being churned out weekly. this week what we have is some contest to win bumper prizes and world tournament :/

All of this just looks like an excuse so they do not have to churn out more resources to develop the expansion. They dont give anything in game and use the current team to work on the development of HoT. I wont bother until they give us an ETA for the release.
