Guys, I was super excited at the PAX South announcement, but now that I’m seeing more and more of the new systems, I’m suddenly gripped by an unshakeable fear that things won’t be as ridiculously awesome as I think I deserve, and I’m terrified that I’ll have to work to achieve character progression, and why can’t all the content be instantly accessible and infinite in quantity?? The sky is starting to fall again! I swear it’s really happening this time! /s

tl;dr could we all stop instantly speculating about how bad things might (but probably won’t) be? I swear after every new announcement the forum fills up with “my concerns about X” and it’s ludicrous. if you’re scared of becoming less interested in a video game, you should just be grateful for how easy your life must be.

Very true.

Honestly, my only gripe about how masteries have been presented is that I can learn to speak Itzel by smacking dinosaurs with a hammer. Other than that, the system looks great.

Except if we speculate now, we may bring something up the devs (who apprently read the forums) may find something they haven’t thought of or make a change to something to better align with what us players want.
Also, we speculate how bad things might be because, from past experiences, we have been justified in our pessimistic outlook. Just look at NPE and traits to name two.

No one is perfect man. Sure the posts are based on speculation, but sometimes what seems innocuous from the devs viewpoint can hit the wrong key in the player base. Which is why this feedback is good to have still during development, so at release you really have the best you can get.

I agree with you, I started coming to the forums lately even though I played for over 2 years and I HATE IT.
Most threads are just people ranting or just thinking the content that they know nothing about will be bad.
and when they know stuff about it they just complain because it’s not perfect.

And the most important, if you’re leaving… just do it silently, without bashing the game you enjoyed for like 2 years and you lost interst in it. JUST MOVE ON.

If you feel you have some specific complaint about the expected content of the expac, and you feel this thread is not allowing you to air your views, please feel free to post in any of the other 99.99% of threads in the HoT forum

Double standards, my friends…if praise and excitement are acceptable, then criticism and skepticism should be too.

Tbh i am a bit concerned about this expansion lol. Last time they released an update for daily reward system it managed to break fractal rewards and legendary weapons. I can only imagine what huge expansion can do to this game.

Well, some people could easily be tricked into believing they’re playing a game, and have fun. I mean I’m just throwing that out there. It could happen.

Over hyping the content is even worse.

Why? because if you hype it and get the hopes up in the sky, then the expansion can never meet your expectations.

this sub forum was made to discuss the expansion and speculate about stuff “threads like what to expect every class’ specialization and sharing your thoughts on what you wish to find… etc”

I was surprised that I found 95% of the threads are either overly concerned and negative people bashing the devs, or people hyping other people up like they’re getting paid to play

Just from your two examples…NPE and traits….how much feedback did they get about this…versus what they actually implemented? The answer is that they got tons of negative feedback about their prospective changes…but went ahead anyway with the changes. That’s the same thing they are going to do every time. No matter how much we complain or speculate. This the same thing with any decent sized company. Once they have their plans anywhere near cemented…there is nothing short of a natural disaster that will stop that plan from coming to market. To roll back plans that they have put this much into…for reasons of customer or even other employees feedback…is to admit that someone knows better than they do. That sets a bad precedent…makes every decision they make after that subject to being second guessed by others. Makes them look bad to their peers, customers, and superiors….so you can imagine they are going to steam roll ahead and hope for the best. Maybe after 6 months or more…they will announce they have decided to make the same or similar changes that you were asking for to begin with though….so may as well wait until you actually see the finished work before complaining.

So far, there have been no confirmed details of anything that isn’t good. No real point in people working themselves into a frenzy over things they cannot possibly know in advance. Once they announce specifics, that is a whole different story.

At this point I see those types of threads in the same way as

“OMG PLZ NERF X/Y/Z!!!!”,
“WTF class X is tooo OP!!!”
“kitten??? My class now does 0.001% less damage after balance! It’s broken!!!”

type threads – you just crab your popcorn, click the link and get ready for some fun reading.
