For one i loved this game for its free to play what mode you want,now i am forced to grind for the kitten hero points,Gw2 its becoming like the traditional MMO where you are forced to grind if you want something basic,not gears,not items but the hero points,they should of warned us that you must grind your kitten off for masteries just to get the heropoints,why did i had to pay the expasion so i can be forced to go PVE and forced grind if i want to play a specialization….

I ask my self the same question: Why? I’ve played GW2 since the beginning and really looked forward to the expansion thinking it would allow me to fiddle around with new builds and new weapons for various chars (I mostly play WvW). I guess not, and I just don’t see the point with the 400 hero points. Huge disamppointment :-(

Same here, I’m very disappointed by the lack of information provided on the map about each Hero Point. Some require Masteries (which you don’t know untill you find your way to the Hero point location) or you need to fight an OP Champion which can’t be done with 2 players.

It should be noted on the map if its a champion hero point or if the hero point requires a mastery to unlock it.

Hero points really should be solo-able. Its kind of ridiculous that you need a group to unlock your elite spec. Ive never had any problem solo’ing hero points in the base game, but many HoT hero points are just not solo-able. I dont mind that you need some mastery’s to get some hero points.

I’m okay with the grind, personally. However, I don’t like that many of the hero points are unobtainable without a group. Not sure how arenanet will respond once the hype dies down, and it becomes hard to find people to do objectives.

I am going to drop a question in here that I have not been able to get an answer to just researching.

I ran my new revenant through a lot of the old world map to open up way points and along the way I hit all the skill points I came across. Will those skill points count towards my new Hero point needs? Or am I only able to obtain the necessary Hero points in the new HoT area for unlocking my elite skills and masteries?

All hero points count, new and old. Though I don’t think there’s enough in old Tyria to unlock the Elite there alone.

God does it. All those group hero challenges, not to mention how many are locked behind certain masteries.

It’s fun when you get to a hero point and there is a kittening frog telling you “nope your not string enough” well I made it to the kittening point how am I not strong enough?

If you get all the hero points in old world tyria you still only have half the required points to unlock your full elite. Get ready to spend the same time you just spent leveling your new reverant, again. It’s a two time level system for only one new trait line if you start a character from scratch. gl

I hoped I could play HoT and WvW with Elites, what’s the point to get the spec after you almost finish the content?? I was really kittened, Anet, 400 points? And if I want to have several Elites? I am so disappointed, I prepurchased a game and met that wall. Not gonna play until you lower that cap, it’s sick. Plz Anet.
