Q:
Hero points from pvp?
There is a way to gather hero points in pve and in wvw. Is there any way to get hero points from pvp?
Unfortunately at the time being, no, there is not.
Since you already have your pvp character with the skills unlocked, why would you need that?
You can now earn PvE levels thru sPvP, so it’s a reasonable question.
The stated official stance from Anet is that there is no need to gather Hero Points in PvP. A PvP character can access all Elite Specializations (in fact, ALL Specializations and skill) without unlocking them in normal play, and giving them a way to use their PvP progress to bypass PvE content would be unfair to other players.
i thought you can get hero points now in wvw
I think it is fair to ask because you used to get a lot of skill point scrolls in pvp. : /

Not really, add reward tracks that allow PvPers to get the hero points. Problem solved, PvPers, despite contrary belief, often will venture into other game modes to play with friends, so they should not get shafted with not being able to unlock the HP unless they grind the PVE content, which most PvPers would not want to do.
So it really isn’t unfair to other players, they all have the specs when they cross into pvp already, and have an advantage by being able to unlock them in their own turf.

Agreed!
I’m for example mostly a pvp player but love to play with guildies in pve also. Now it seems to make unnecessary bounder between pvp and pve players because if you want to focus for pvp you’ll have no option to upgrade your characters and are kind of restricted to vanilla GW2 even if you own HoT. Meanwhile if you’re mainly a pve player and want to play sometimes casually pvp than there is no limits to your character as previously allready stated.
And as a cherry to the cake you can’t even get mastery points in pvp atm. :<
Its sadly comical how they gated and divided the two areas with the heart of thorns. My favorite part about GW2 was that I could pvp “play the game how I wanted” then venture casually into pve. Even play one character to level up my other Alts in pvp then WvW or anything else for a bit then go back.
Now when I want to roam WvW solo or just hang out in pve for a while I cant. I feel like Anet is leaving money on the table. I spent a lot in the gem store over the yrs but with only acess to half the game now it seems like a nonstarter to buy gems.
Yes! Please add Tomes of Hero Points instead of tomes of knowledge, we need it so badly.
This is simply unbelievable.
while initially excited by release, now finding the HOT grind in pve so completely boring with 10 lvl 80 with 100% map completion that I haven’t been able to face it for days.
Today thought, oh, I have that new second necro I made, l can keep her for pvp instead of having to contantly change builds between pvp and wvw (where I am mostly) and craft a second set of same stat gear (Don’t want to have to swap gear constantly). So it’s been awhile since l pvp’d on a new char and firstly my new necro is all in underlevel gear and stats seem not bumped up to 80, at least in pvp lobby? What’s with that?
Secondly, no ability to earn HP? OMFG seriously? What an oversight Anet!! O.O
Way I’m feeling atm is l just wasted $150 AUS…
Btw, while useful for levelling revernant, tomes of knowledge for me are one of the most useless annoying items in game. It takes 2 days to get a char to 80 normal way and I’m no pro!

If you open your hero panel in Heart of the Mists you see the PvE build.
You adjust/check your pvp stats and build at the build pannel which is on top center of your screen.
This is simply unbelievable.

Ummm… your builds are saved separately for each game mode now, so I’m not sure what your issue is?
Issue – Proof of Heroics available in WvW as replacement for Badges of Honour. It would make sense to have a similar system in PvP. Not all of us want to grind ourselves braindead in Pve on dead AEST maps.
As for errm, necro build, nps, l found out l can equip elite specialisations. Must be all that Pve. :P
Thanks for comments.

Can you link where they said this?
Cause my head is spinning from the logic of it. PvPers already have stuff that allows them to “bypass PvE content” (see: Like, every reward track ever?)
How this would be any different is beyond me.
If they really said that, I call BS and they just don’t want to let people get out of playing HoT maps for hours and hours.

Tomes?

why does pvp need hero point ?
Archeage = Farmville with PK
why does pvp need hero point ?
When you primarily play pve and gain hero points through that to unlock the elite spec you do not need to farm proof of heroics from scratch again if you want to experience wvw in your elite spec and vice versa for if you primarily play wvw. It should be so that if you primarily play PvP you should be able to unlock elite specs through that for the same time investment so that you may experience wvw in your elite spec without regrinding.
Also, they did so already with giving us tomes, how is this different.

Some people might only play PvP and dip their toes into WvW or PvE for a short break and would like to be able to earn their elite skills and skins the same way everyone else did, by just playing the game how they wanted too.
….. And Elementalist.
I haven’t been able to use elite specialiZations in sPvP, what am I doing incorrectly?

Do you own HoT? HoT would be necessary for Elite Specs.
If you own PoF, they aren’t available yet.
Good luck.
In PvP, we don’t need any unlocks. Players have access to all L80 skills/traits and the elite line from any of the expansions they own.
In WvW and PvE, we do need unlocks, because we level up “manually”. Since there are a tiny number of hero challenges available directly via WvW, ANet added proofs of heroics, allowing us to earn the post-80 trait unlocks without leaving our preferred game mode.
tl;dr WvW needs a hero-challenge alternative; PvP never did and probably never will.
