Hi all,

I really enjoy this game and wish to keep playing. However, I’m in Australia and am already suffering from bad latency at all times and unplayable latency at night.

My concern with the release of HoT is that it will tax the servers more which in turn will lead to even higher latency issues for Australian players. It will most likely kick us from the game in periods of high traffic (not that it will be playable if we don’t get kicked anyway).

It would be sad to buy the expansion only to find we can’t actually play the game, even with 300 latency, anymore.

Is this a shared concern and is there anything at all we can do (aside from not playing it)?

Dreaming of the day we get physical West Coast servers.

I am from New Zealand and ALWAYS experience bad latency and Ping/Fps in Drytop and the Silverwastes so I am not really looking forward to how the new HOT maps will be for me.

I don’t think it will be as bad as being dced from the game but still it gets so bad that I always have to turn down my settings to the lowest performance. Basically its on a par with when I am in WvW and there are zergs all over the place. No where else in the game is so bad for me. So tbh I really wonder why this is. Are these servers placed somewhere else? Is it all the decorations or the verticality of the maps are just more taxing on my crap graphics card? I really do wish they would look into it tho.

Let me tell you, using those pick up items to travel around Drytop is a nightmare. You really do see the latency issues. There is still one particular Lost coin that I can’t get as you need to use the teleport to pick up item and it will ALWAYS over shoot you no matter what. Don’t even get me started on the JP/diving goggles there. At 10 Fps on the lowest settings it’s a real NIGHTMARE. Even just at the base of it, if you fall down underneath the structure you have to fight very hard with the camera just to get yourself out of it. It is the worst experience you can imagine in a game let me tell you….

So here’s hoping it’s not too bad….

Since when did this business of being a hero become being a business?

Servers are in Texas, that’s why my signature is what it is. We’d get a much more stable ping if the servers were on the West Coast (around 180 average under good conditions) and there would be virtually no bad lag spikes.

If things regarding our lag stay the same for HoT then I’m okay with that, hope is all we have

Hahaha, you are in the same earth’s hemisphere at least. Really can’t compare with OP’s problem.

I think Xorgith is saying that if the servers were on the West Coast, he, and other Australian area players would have lower ping.

I’ve made many posts about this over the year and they are always moved/merged into another, older post. I don’t think Anet gives a s**t about us here anymore…

I"m in Tasmania, and while I do have latency at times, the game has almost always been playable. The one exception to this is the Sanctum Sprint mini game. The lightning leap simply doesn’t work for me anymore. It always overshoots. me.

But everything else in the game I’ve played, including the HoT beta.

My guess is, if you had latency/lag before, it’ll be about the same.
