I was fooling around on the site, previewing Ghosts Of Ascalon, when i noticed this map. The dungeons are marked with squares (AC, CoE, SE, CoF, CoA, etc…)
When i noticed TWO DUNGEONS called Bloodstone Fen and Ruins of Denravi in the Maguuma Wastes area! Are these going to be a part of the expansion?

There won’t be any new “Dungeons” in Heart of Thorns. If these are anything, they’ll be Raids. But most likely they’re planned dungeons that wound up getting canceled.
Doubt it. Colin has pretty much said-without-saying that dungeons like AC, COE, and COF are dead content and Fractals will be the only 5 man instanced content hence forth…
Those might have planned dungeons early on but I’m about 100% positive they’ve been scrapped.

-I wouldn’t say “dead”, they’re still popular for the armor, weapons, rewards, and leveling for that little adventurous lvl 30 getting ready to delve deeper into the game..
If those were dungeons in guild wars 1, they probably will have something important there. Also, I’d be pretty cool to do some dungeons with Taimi, Rox, Brahm, Marj and Kas instead of regular Destiny’s Edge.
If not, still, it’s very likely SOMETHING might happen there. I noticed some dungeons weren’t on the map, like TA.
they could even be potential world boss locations!
There’s yet to be ANY mention of five man instance content outside of Fractals. So, I don’t think dungeons as we currently have them will be in HoT.
As a side note, Bloodstone Fen was the name of a mission in GW: Prophecies, which ended with you on top of one of the bloodstones. I wouldn’t be surprised if we end up there in HoT, but I wouldn’t expect a dungeon (as we know them in GW2) to be there.
Its to bad, the dungeons are dead content because they were poorly done and no effort was put in to making them better. Raids are cool, fractals are kinda boring because its the same maps over and over, dungeons have always been a grab in games but with little to no xp, rewards, or challenge its no wonder people didn’t populate them.
Personally I wish they would make dungeons worth while, I prefer them to questing whenever possible. I might actually level up without crafting or tomes if dungeons were a good source of xp.
-WOW, conversations grow like weeds.

like prophetic visions of the past, the future, what could have been the present etc.
Lololol you just reminded me of when i went into Omadd’s machine and my armor top was broken, it showed in the cutscene… X,D
I am free spirit!!!
Ruins of Denravi on this map shows up Twilight Arbor, so maybe that’s it.
Bloodstone Fen is the location of first raid wing. It’s 90% sure, because there’s a gate in Verdant Brink leading to bloodstone fen, accessible only using glider.

Where is that? I’ve seen a gate leading to another zone, but it wasn’t all that inaccessible, just blocked for the time being.
“all additions we make to make the five player dungeon content more fun will expand on Fractals.”
The Ruins of Denravi are in-game already.
People suspect that Bloodstone Fen will be the first raid, though I’m not convinced personally.
considering neither ta or cm are on that map safe to say the two you see were scraped and the other two dungeons put into the game instead
I am new in gw2 coming from another mmo and all I have to say is that more people play dungeons in gw2, than any other mmo…
If ANET devs dont like dungeons or find it hard to make for them, doesnt mean people dont like them, or dont play them. Group finder is filled with dungeon queues. I never found my self disappointed, if I want to join a dungeon to play.
In other mmos, forums are filled with complaints, because of the long queues… Here devs dont like dungeons… well…
I believe their problem is not that the people dont like them… Their problem is :
1) they created a huge HUGE interactive world, full of events and
2) dugeons require cinematics, resources, story telling… etc
3) they need producers, writters, voice-overs… more bucks to spend.
thats why ANET says people dont like them.
ps: My opinion is from what i’ve seen so far.

Open world also requires resources, story telling, voice overs, writers, etc. So that argument is flawed.
