So new expansion, new content is about to hit, but i have a question, will we have new achievements to look forward too?
And by new i mean more than just a few easy collect some coins hidden on the map or do a bossfight and BAM done in a few days (like we had with LS).

When the game launched we had tons of achievements to look forward too, but since the game is out for more than 2 and half years, most veterans have already done 90% of them, and whats left are some impossibles (gkoux gkoux WvW gkoux gkoux).

Now I can guess that we will have but noone mentions anything about it :P

They called us TEMPESTs, but we can use our elite to cheat death instead

I will be very surprised if we didn’t have some long term achievements (probably a Morden slayer one for example) but I think they will mostly be short term ones like ‘kill the wyvern’, ‘explore all regions in heart of maguuma’ or even ‘defeat mordremoth’. There could even be LW season 2 style achievements because it looks like there will be more story instances. So overall there will be plenty to do I bet.

No. They are done making achievements. They will never add anymore ever. /s

Of course they are adding new achievements. Stop and think before posting. And of course we aren’t talking about them. We have no idea what they will be and achievements generally aren’t exciting in and of themselves so there is nothing to discuss. They will exist, they are things you can get. What else do you need to know?

We know outright we will have 63 new achievements for the original precursors. And that’s ignoring the new precursors and new legendaries.

There’s achievements tied to the story in both LW and Personal Story, so it only makes sense such in HoT gets achievements.

There’s achievements for nearly every jumping puzzle and mini-dungeons, and I’m pretty sure jumping puzzles have already been confirmed for HoT, so achievements for them will make sense.

Dear ANet writers,
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

Nothing to talk about until new information is released.
I’d expect about 7k-10k worth of new achievements. Likely categories:

Story Achievements. LS story style challenge achievements.

New map related achievements.

They said they were going to “Dry Top” map specific achieve every map in the game other than the stater maps

Collections (like the above poster said, at least 63 new collections for old Legendaries, probably the same for new Legendaries. The screenshot showing one such collection showed that it rewarded 3 AP). This in addition to whatever other new collections get added. Collections for things like new Luminesent style armors seem likely. Plus Black lion collections.

They said they were going to add timers to jump puzzles, so there will probably be achievements for beating the clock on every single jump puzzle

A lot of the masteries may double as achievements.

Basketbrawl may arrive In the expansion. (A map and a load screen were data mined a longtime ago but this never arrived)

Pvp champion titles for revenant and every mastery. (Could be 20 tracks total)

WvW players have been complaining about their achievements forever. I would be surprised not to see a revamp with HoT. But even if that doesn’t come, I bet there are a bunch of desert borderlands related achievements.

I wouldn’t be surprised either if we got a Queen’s Jubilee living story festival to hype the expansion before it came out.

And a bunch of stuff we can’t even know about.

There will always be new achievements. ANet simply has to put in constantly new achievement,s because currently no single player is able to reach just simple the required amounts of AP to come to the near of unlocking the complete set of Hellfire/Radiant Armor Sets, nor even to get to the near of unlockingany of the tier 2 achievement point weapon set skins that do look exactly like the Zenith Weapons, but just in purple with a rainbow like blurry 3D effect on them.

To basically unlock both Armor Sets, you need to have 36000 AP !!

The highest AP players have currently is just only compared to that amount of AP only 27340 Ap at the current day today.
So we are so far still roughly 10k AP away from the first player being able to finish both first tier AP Armor Sets, before Anet would have to put in the next sets as replacement or something else, while being at that point already in a good chunk on workign on the complete Pinacle Weapon Set, beign at 36k AP at just only 5/16 skins.

SO if Anet ever wants to see any of their players reachign those goals they set up, they simply also have to come up constantly with new achievements that allow players to make good amounts of AP to significantly progress on the AP total. Removing monthlies for that im was a bad decision, as it naturally increases the pressure on adding more permanent achievements on a long term.

The tiem will come, where they need to increase the limits of alot of achievents, as that would be an easy way to give players more new achievements and something to work on for the next years to come.

ANet should just only add non stop new achievement,s they should first and foremost also constantly improve the already existing achievements and more likely also finalyl start with fixing the already existign achievement,s which don’t work since release (cough, bugged collections, still 2 bugged till today since introduction) as especially also fixing finally the WvW achievements, making them doable and more rewarding, so that WvWers also can compete with AP gain with PvE/PvPers on a similar level.
WvW is still way too unrewarding compared to PvP and PvE!!

Besides all of this, there is still tons of unused potential for alot of more achievements.

  • Regions, currently the game has only achievements for 2 out of over 35 regions.
  • Bosses, all other World Bosses deserve to have own achievements liek Tequatl and Tri Wurm together with fitting gameplay redesigns to make theb osses better , more fun and more interestign to fight against mechanics wise
  • Alot of Slayer Achievements are missing until today..Mordrem Slayer, Karka Slayer, Destroyer Slayer, Branded Slayer just to name some of the most obvious ones
  • Theres still full complete unexplorable old known Continents that are full of potential for new achievements, and still tons of unexplorable places in the Tyria Map
  • We will constantly see new Jumping Puzzles every now and then, new Hidden Places
  • Livign Story and personal Story will continue to deliver new Achievements constantly
  • New Features like Adventures will always add also new potential for tons of new Achievements, basically doing every single adventure could be linked to an achievement for doing it successful the first time, just like you get achievements for doing jumping puzzles the first time or findign hidden places the first time
  • Stronghold will surely add new achievements
  • The new WvW Map will surely add new achievements
  • New classes and Specializations and everythign based on Masteries will surely add new achievements
  • Minipet Collection can be continued any time for new achievements
  • Theres still tons of potential unused behind Collection Achievements, how much just shows how manyx new achievements we iwl lget from the precursor crafting now just from old and new ones…. and thats just for weapons, we are still left on also making precursors one day for Legendary Armors, Legendary Accessoires, Legendary Back Items and Legendary Aqua Breathers to make it complete, which all want their precursors to be crafted too for far more achievements based on that all.
  • Whenever we will see hopefully someday also new weapon categories, like 2H axes, whips, halberds, crossbows, claws, quarterstaffs ect. with each of that will get also come new weapon achievements
  • Theres alot of Activities missing, that should be already in the game plus their achievement,s like Polymok, Bar Brawls, Target Shooting to name the most known ones that are in talk since the game got announced and got announced to be in the game from begin on and aren’t that until today!! Bar brawl Achievements were even for some tiem in the game and got whyever removed …
  • SAB has to return, it has still some worlds left including hard mode returning, thats also alot of AP you can get from, plus theres the option that Anet could make other Retro Homage games after SAB is complete, would always love to see next a homage to something like Mega Man/Metroid, where Sab is a homage to Super Mario/ Zelda obviously as a mixture of jump n run and adventure, next retro homage should be more of a shooter adventure
