After HoT content is released two short months it’ll be Christmas. I was speculating if HoT would go on sale that soon. Since GW2 includes HoT and the base game the chances seem even higher that there will be a sale. Part of me thinks maybe I should have waited on preordering and score a 50% off deal or something. But alas I’ve been so bored I didn’t want to wait two months to play new content. I just hope I’m not disappointed with the pace of HoT content as in are they going to have much to do right off the bat or is it going to be like living story released every couple weeks. If its content that’s released every two weeks I could have easily caught up except for mastery unlocks. Maybe some players on the fence can score a good sale deal at least. Just a quick thought I had…

I wouldn’t expect a sale so soon after release. maybe 6 months to a year earliest, if at all.

50% off after 2 months would be completely bonkers, especially at Xmas.

Yeah, I cannot imagine the game going on sale that soon after launch.

There is absolutely no evidence to support that it would.” -AnthonyOrdon

50%+ off is very unlikely, but the game will go on sale, just not from ArenaNet. Various official retailers have already had the game on sale for around 20% off, so you can expect to see something similar. After launch, any retailer will also be able to carry copies of GW2, so the cost may be localized at that point if you have to deal with exchange rates.

If you wait that long however, you’ll probably miss a few of the living story episodes, assuming they start it a month after launch, though they may try to bank on Wintersday and hold off until January. Each episode will likely cost 200 gems, so even if you do get 50% off near the end of December, it won’t be as much as it looks (assuming you see the monetary value in gems).

If you see the monetary value in gems, the best deal you’ll likely ever see is pre-purchasing at 20%+ off. Factor in the free $10 character slot and that’s basically 40% off already.
