Is it just me or does the rev look like a carbon copy of a paladin? The one i’m thinking about is the WoW paladin, that has a dps, a tank and a healing skill tree.

Except the Paladin does not do anything with the spirits or the WoW equivalent of the Mists, nor does it deal with applying much in terms of DoTs, nor does it use ranged weapons.

Besides, the Guardian is clearly the closest thing to a “Paladin”, filled with light and fire abilities. Guardians can also “tank”, DPS, and heal.

Several classes have dps, tank and healing trees… well less pronounced than the revenant for sure, but it’s not a new thing in GW2.

No, the Revenant is really, really far away from the paladin archetype.

The Revenant is a cross between Dervish and a Ritualist from GW1, using fields instead of Totems. If you had to pick a WoW class, its more in tune with Druids, complete with form changes and melee capability.

I was more thinking Death Knight rather than Paladin. Interesting class anyway, feels like a battlemage type

It looks about as far removed from a Paladin as possible, I mean they apply Torment! Torment! :p

I really like the class though, feels very uniquely GW just like mesmer and dervish etc.

Apart from the armour class I don’t see any resemblance. At all. Whatsoever.

The one i’m thinking about is the WoW paladin, that has a dps, a tank and a healing skill tree.

I see even less resemblance. I didn’t think that was possible.

If Guild Wars was still humans-only, the guardian probably would have been called a paladin. Main reason it isn’t is to avoid religious implications that wouldn’t work for the other races.

Regarding trees… it may not be so blatant as having a heal, DPS, and tanking legend, but the other professions all have the potential to make builds along these lines. The update that brought in core specialisations did a lot to bring up the professions that previously didn’t have as much in the way of support.

To those who think Scarlet hate means she’s succeeded as a villain:
People don’t hate Scarlet like Game of Thrones fans hate Joffrey.
They hate her the way Star Wars fans hate Jar Jar Binks.
