Hello, if you are like me I’m sure you were disappointed when anet announced that the new legendaries would not be developed anymore, I would like to offer a possible solution to this since I’m sure many of us would love to see what they had in development art wise. Also I’m terribly sorry if this has already been suggested, I do not frequent the forums often I tried searching but nothing came up.

So to my suggestion: I would like to suggest adding the precursors for the new legendary weapons as drops in HOT maps and hold off on the collections for the precursors. I assumed from the post that was probably the reason for their cancellation since they mentioned something about rather working on the living story. Anet could add the collections at their convenience at a later date.

I wish they’d finish the HoT legendaries myself. I’d like to see how the GS/LB legendaries would’ve looked like which is why the “next” expansion they come out with, I will not be buying it for the first 5months or so since there is still unfinished things left to be done in HoT that were promised to us all that “anet” doesn’t care about.

The last thing this game needs is more legendary greatswords.

Twilight and Sunrise have already the most effects and animations compared to the other legendaries. They have the longer lasting footprints, which are also large unlike Colossus/Meteorologicus, they bring an aura with themselves, and their attack animations are amongst the most detailed.

The last legendary that should be worked on is more greatswords.

Work on improving the crappy ones we already have.

Legendary footfalls don’t scale with race so footfalls are minuscule on male norn.

Meteorologicus doesn’t have an aura or any spell animation effects, unlike Bifrost. The footfalls of Meteorologicus are kitten, basically a lesser copy/paste of Bolt’s.

The Minstrel has no footfalls. The torch is similarly mediocre.

Howler’s aura doesn’t work on your character half the time and the footfalls are barely visible.

Nevermore’s footfalls are barely visible and don’t last long like Twilight/Sunrise. Astralaria and the shortbow have similarly short footfalls but at least Astralaria’s is more noticeable.

I am not just saying we should have the greatswords though, I was looking forward to what they did with all the new legendaries, focus, torch, shield, warhorn included. I think nevermore’s is noticeable but that is just me. This is supposed to be a possible alternate way to get the legendaries they were working on.

I agree with Kalaria on this.

Anet did promise us another set of legendaries for HoT. That means we will get a GS too, like it or not. It does not matter which one comes out first, what matters is that it comes out.

The biggest issue regarding the release of new legendaries is the making of their own “legendary journey” that is tough and needs alot of work. While it is fun and cool, it is also at the moment denying the player base a content that was promised. I think they should just add the new precursors (as a really rare drop in Hot maps) and the new legendaries for us to craft (Just like the Gen 1 legendaries). Skip the legendary journey and collection for now as Kalaria said.

I totally agree with adding the precursors as drops and not just in PVE. Please add them to WvW. As a mainly WvW player, I hated having to do the “journey” to craft my legendaries. It was just pure torture for me, really. LOL

As an alternative, I’d love for ANet to devote a “little time” into an extra set of skins with some special effects… or at least 12 skins. The name of the set would be a nod to the player criticisms about the unfulfilled set of precursors/legendaries — one of the following:

  • Unpromised
  • Untrustworthy
  • Overhyped
  • Slaps in the Face
  • Bit-Off-More-Than-We-Could-Chew (or perhaps "more than we could ‘choo’ ")

Unfortunately, at this moment the “takes longer to release them” option is unavailable at all. They haven’t just simply postponed doing them until later. They have dropped all the work on these completely, with no guarantee that they’d ever return to it. There will always be “more important things” to do after all.

Continuing on the current path is not currently a viable option to pick. That’s why we need to think of alternatives if we want to ever see those legendaries.

let’s stop with exagerrating, okay? Not even the most costly precursor (which would be Legend at the moment) costs 1500 gold. As far as i know, no precursor has ever cost that much. Most of the precursors are way, way below that point.

So no, getting a lucky precursor drop is not equivalent of “randomly giving people upwards (lol) of 1500 gold”. Not even close.

I think collections aren´t funny (and we have way too much of them). So i hate it to wait month over month just to get a stupid abd boring journey.

RNG is probably not the best thing, but still better then waiting for new collections.

I´d like to see the new sword/mace, longbow, the focus or the torch.

But with the current speed we have to wait 4 years or more, and there will still be other weapons missing.

So kitten the collections! Add the precursors to loottables or at least to the mystic forge.

I would rather see them than not see them (hence this post) with the rng. I myself have not have one drop in 3 years I did get lucky with the mystic toilet once. But I would rather have access to them with buying them over the TP. And those collections are expensive in themselves

It is. It is absurd. It’s outrageous that some guy in my guild who started playing in Vanilla release got a Dusk off Temple of Grenth, then a Colossus off Jormag and got his Twilight funded for free and quit a month later, while other people had to play the game for 5+ months of grinding to make their legendary.

Equal rewards for equal effort and time spent. No to RNG.

You are both biased and wrong. We get that you don’t like greatswords. We really do – but they should work on ALL types of legendaries – not just the ones you like.

That aside – greatswords are the some of the most popular weapons in the game – so why not have MORE of them if people like them?

There’s a reason they’re so common.

Nope, didn’t care. I was pleased at the new method to obtain them initially but then after pages and pages of people moaning about them being gated behind broken events and how apart from one “interesting” part the other parts were a gold sink, I stopped caring. Given what was said about the resource required to produce them, I’m glad it’s not being spent doing this. It would still be spent there however regardless of what I think IF the metrics supported this. Apparently most people don’t care or didn’t care or they’d be still in development is how I see it.

So to my suggestion: I would like to suggest adding the precursors for the new legendary weapons as drops in HOT maps

They wouldn’t be precursors tho would they if there are no legendary weapons to turn them into.

Blame Abaddon, he loves your tears.
pve, raid, pvp, fractal, dungeon, world clearing, legendary questing.. Zapped!

You are both biased and wrong. We get that you don’t like greatswords. We really do – but they should work on ALL types of legendaries – not just the ones you like.

That aside – greatswords are the some of the most popular weapons in the game – so why not have MORE of them if people like them?

There’s a reason they’re so common.

They’re common because they’ve been meta weapons for a while. Best weapon on warrior, best weapon on guardian before hammer meta (and you still have greatsword/longbow variant), best ranged weapon on power mesmer for spvp and wvw.

They’re also the most finished legendaries, while scepters, focus, warhorn, shield among others had to be updated and are still unfinished.

You had THREE greatsword legendaries relative to a SINGLE one of the others.

BWE1 with friends… excluding the Karka weekend precursor give away event…. I’ve only ever seen one precursor drop to a guildie in WvW about a year into the game.

I’d rather waste my hours putting in work to attain a goal, then play a game and wait for my winning numbers to show.

Well, I would agree if they release new legendaries sooner and with rng based precursors, but ONLY IF:
1. they make these precursors tradeable
2. they’ll later add their collections

I wouldn’t like that new precursors will be rng based, because I think the collection-only system for the current 4 HoT precursors is much better. But my desire for new legendaries (mainly sword, longbow and hammer) is much stronger feeling than this.

Yes.

We do need more legendary greatswords. Ones that are nothing like Eternity et al.

Quite frankly, I find those swords rather ugly.
They somehow manage to be too flashy and incredibly bland simultaneously.

There is beauty in simplicity; they need to tone it down a bit.

Btw, we need a legendary longbow like this:

Personally, I would prefer one based on the moon.
I feel a legendary bow with that theme is much needed.

I prefer sword but I just had to post that pic because it’s awesome.

Speaking of swords, they could make the next legendary sword a rapier, and the next legendary focus a fan. Make all the Mesmers happy.

My other ideas include:
A type of nodachi for the legendary greatsword, any theme would work;
A paintbrush-like legendary scepter, complete with painterly effects;
A non-joke legendary mace (another thread mentioned flails. Why not?);
And a legendary dagger more akin to Caithe’s Bloom Dagger, something actually physical, unlike the Incinerator.

That white-black / day-night theme you’re talking about has kinda already been done, 3 times in fact. (Kraitkin, Howler, Sunrise/Twilight and Eternity)

But hey, they could do it with the rifle, or maybe the shield?
I was thinking of a space-themed shield, myself. The front could be like a portal into space or something, with the sun and moon visible at different times.

Or they could do two 1H swords this time, one light, the other dark, for dual wielding. (Though personally, I would rather they had done that with the pistols)

Too bad then, that the part of the Legendary Journey for Nevermore i remember most was deforesting Orr at Malchor’s.
