I’m happy that there’s been a statement made by Anet, but I don’t get where it’s appreciative of veterans.

Thanks very much for the character slot which is roughly valued at $10.00 USD according to the gem store. It’s a nice gesture, but it misses the point.

However, I don’t want or need the core game packaged with the expansion as I already have it.

I don’t consider it a value added because I already have the game and I would get no use out of this item.

What I wonder is why would there be a decision to package the core game to players who plainly already have it through a gem store banner ad? I mean if we’re seeing the gem store, we are in game.

I have the game. I don’t need or want another one. So why set the price point so high?

Adding the core game to the package and delivering it to us via gem store ad, just smacks of padding to justify a high price point.

Also, if I wanted an additional character slot, I could just buy it. Why put it in the package?

I’d like a no-frills option with just the expansion and nothing else. I don’t appreciate the padding. I would like a nicer price point….period.

You are NOT buying the core game again, you are buying HoT for 50$ regardless. And Anet is kind to give you core game if you are a new player. Geez.

Some must fight so that all may be free.

Here’s the disconnect. Not everyone is buying HoT “regadless” as we already own GW2. This (as described in the blog post) is not a standard expansion, it is a continuation of GW2 that many aren’t seeing as value for their money. The character slot addition will placate some certainly but not all. Some like myself will wait to see more of the expansion before buying because to this point it’s still not (to my eyes) worth $50.

Even post launch non “upgrades” can continue to play GW2 until the upgrade (not expansion) is reduced in price / is shown to be amazing.
