So I was tossing around preordering HoT, and I know it comes with a key to unlock it outside of the gem store. I was wondering if purchasing HoT gives a separate key for the base game. My sister wants to get into the game, and I thought gifting the base for her to try out while upgrading my own account for myself would be a cool deal for both of us. Thanks!

Nope. HoT doesn’t give you a separate key for the base game. It simply includes the base game in it free. Your choices are to upgrade an existing account with HoT or to start a brand new account which has HoT and the core game, but it’s all on one game key.

Ahh, that’s too bad. I thought that they might have integrated it seeing as making the core part of HoT was such a big deal, but no worries. Thanks!

It’s probably also to prevent people selling the account keys, which can be a big issue in games where ‘bundle’ packs do include separate keys.

Also maybe to minimize the separation of the playerbase.
