HoT Waypoints - Decontest them
Agreed. I don’t even know why was it made contested in the first place.
If events are going to have any challenge at all, people have to not be able to casually self-rez by popping back to the WP.
Can’t say I see how you get to it promoting Not doing events, since doing the events is how you keep the points open…

I would like to see all waypoints in the game decontested, not just the HoT ones. If I port into the middle of a battle and have to fight immediately, so what?
I agree with the OP. With so few wps in the jungle, it’s really annoying to have to run all the way across the map to get back to a fight.
Problem is once I die I’m not going all the way back, I probably won’t survive the trip, not that far with everyone else busy with the events.
I can understand not having every single WP open all the time, but there needs to be better open coverage more of the time.
There is absolutely no evidence to support that it would.” -AnthonyOrdon

Especially when that means I’m likely to lose all participation credit on the way.
The distances are no longer acceptable with that hanging over our heads.

And this is the terrible lesson of Tequatl — that people should retreat instead of getting rez’d.
That’s not true in the jungle.

Get this mastery and you can cross the HoT maps very quickly, regardless of the waypoint situation.

I don’t think he’s saying that people don’t want to do the events because it’s contested, just that it is more often a chain reaction of contested waypoints. If theres events on the west side of the map but the only ones uncontested are on the east side, it makes me not want to do the west side event if I can’t even get a middle ground location for a waypoint.
Couple that into the mob density and overall difficulty change (I’m not saying it’s too hard), it makes running past a lot of enemies or other things to get to said event much more tedious. I understand wp contesting, but the current situation in the new maps with wp contesting is out of control.

That makes sense. One possible workaround would be to have 1 or 2 wps in each zone that are never contested. Maybe up on towers or something so at least people can glide down.
As it is now, though, it’s tedious to run all the way back across the zone. Not “too hard” or “too challenging”, just tedious.

.
you just described VB: You got 3 wp that never get contested: the east one, the west one and the center one, who is surprise surprise on top of a hill.
I’ve definitely seen the west one contested, and I’m fairly certain I’ve seen the center one contested as well.
And then there’s the one up north and a little west (starts with an M, but I don’t remember the name). I don’t think I’ve ever seen that one uncontested; it’s always got mobs camping it.

Simple, you have people who see an event going on around a waypoint from across the map, but cannot join the event because they can’t get to a close waypoint, the waypoints are far enough apart as to make trying to reach them on foot an exercise in futility.
So a lot of times when I see events going on.. if it contests the nearest waypoint, I don’t bother, because the run takes long enough that I’m not going to make it in time anyway.

Yep thats a pretty good sum up of what I meant. Why bother trying to get to them if the closest WP is to far from the actual event.

The first part of your statement is is true enough you do want it to be a challenge.
But the second point is if people die they wont want to run all the way back from the opposite side of the map because thats the closest point.

Which means in the Jungle if you die wait to get rez’d. If you all die, get good… ’Cause that sucked .

Hey.
I have no problem with how few WP’s there are. I have no problem with where they are.
I have a major issue with how whenever there is an event you can’t get to it with out running most of the map because it’s contested and most of the other ones are as well. It’s very frustrating and a bad design that promotes NOT doing events, and needs to be changed please.
I have no problem with anything else. Just the nearly always contested WP’s
There have been times where literally all the wp’s were contested except the intro one in VB.
They need contested wp’s so people can’t just walk a few feet and be back in the fight, but perhaps event timing or other factors aren’t quite right yet.
Not to necro this thread, but I totally agree with the OP. Mallagans Valor is always contested, and it’s literally the most important waypoint on the verdant brink map imo

That’s really strange, since there’s at least one other that is NEVER contested.
