Judging by today, I get the feeling these new zones will be southsun cove 2.0 soon enough… Only the die hard players trying to complete these reward tracks and gather hero points will occupy the zone in a month. Regardless of the hero point requirement for specializations, I think more and more players will drop like flies due to the grind, gates to achievements and group requirements throughout these zones. This will in turn lead to the following predictions…

Devs will drastically lower the required hero points for elite specs and make hero points account bound.

Champions guarding some hero points will be dropped down to elite so they can be soloed.

Zone event credit will be easier to achieve, and events and will be tuned down a lot.

Required mastery track xp will get lowered and have many unlock perks condensed.

The devs will design it so you can earned xp for any mastery track in any portion of the game.

Rewards will be greatly increased in an attempt to keep the zones populated.

Anyone else get the same impressions from today?

The Hero Challenges need the timer removed in addition to being adjusted..

It’s still too early to judge, give it a month.

I know the new locations look hard to navigate and pretty challenging, but when you unlock masteries traveling become really easy.

They called us TEMPESTs, but we can use our elite to cheat death instead

I so angry at anet now.. my issue is not that the hero points spawn champions no thats fine, if anything theyre not challenging enough (hear me out).

So i found one and tried to kill it in full dire on necro and got somewhat close but the timer ran out so i thought fair enough im using tanky gear whatever, tried it in full zerker cos thats what I had on me, survived and still didnt kill it.. (did less damage i think due to toughness? but thats not the point). So what it is is that for god knows what reason they do not want these mobs soloable which is ridiculous in itself. But what is worse is that they were too dam lazy to implement real difficulty not to make it soloable, they didnt even take their usual pathetic approach with pve and overload the mob with stats, they took the full cheese approach and included a dps timer.

This crap doesnt even make sense lore-wise. Oh take this egg, oh no a big bug appeared to kill you for taking it but after 4 minutes even though he didnt kill you and stop you from taking the egg he decided he couldnt be bothered anymore and disappears and yet somehow the egg you were fighting to take suddenly disappears even though the bug failed to kill you.

Another sad thing about this whole situation is knowing that considering how much health i managed to take out in dire I wouldve probably completed the challenge on sinsiter engi.

I was actually enjoying exploring the map because the second HoT map seemed like less of a glorified jumping puzzle but then boom i reach this absolute cheese hard cap stopping me from immersing myself in the exploration and tells me i have to beg on map chat for someone to go out of their way to run all the way to me on a dead map.

It’s been a weekend. It’s far too early to tell. So far the biggest complaints revolve around the gating of story and the hp requirements for elite specialisations.

Will there be revisions and tweaks? Absolutley. But I don’t get this sky is falling attitude with some of the commentators here. It’s been 3 days lol! Wait until the dust settles and people work everything out. Remember the tears at the revised Teq fight? Now people have it on farm.

I hope so. I really do. Because I’m already losing interest in this grindy crap.

Because it got nerfed.

Those unsolable hero points are a mess though.
There is a US$49.90 price gate to enter those maps. They are full now thanks to the launch. In a few months this will be worse than Orr.

I know the new locations look hard to navigate and pretty challenging, but when you unlock masteries traveling become really easy.

I predict if it takes them a month to get their stuff figured out, you’ll see a mass exodus of a large portion of their more casual player base. At least enough so that the hardcore grinders who have thus far been unwilling to compromise, will complain about not enough people around..

Yeah, in a month, no alts will be able to get them done.

The one thing GW2 has on every other MMO out there is that’s it’s known as the most casual one around, that it’s not grindy, that your gear will never become obsolete, heck how many MMO can claim you can get to lvl cap without playing? Lvl cap which by the way is never to increase.

But HOT makes it feel like a hardcore Korean grind MMO, at least compared to the core game.

having played korean grind MMO, this is nowhere near it.. a bit grindy yes, but nothing close. a korean grind would be 500x this

Completely, 100% agree with this prediction. Its still the launch week, and already events are a mess and hero points are unattainable with a high population.

Making the Story critical to getting abilities for Zone Exploration was bad enough, but then tying huge XP grinds to unlocking those masteries is a complete betrayal of the GW2 vision. In the base game, I gave up on the personal story early on since it was so boring a tedious.
