I apologize in advance if this has already been posted or if something similar to this has been posted.

I just wanted some opinions on weapon specializations. Obviously we heard in the PAX announcement that specializations would be added in and we were given examples of classes being able to use a new weapon (i.e. Necro using GS). There were multiple classes that were left in the dark for us to think about.

My thought went more toward the warrior class, as I main a warrior. So I wanted to know what weapon you all think the warrior might get. Do you think there is any chance that they would add in a completely new weapon line? Maybe like a polearm (spear)? I think this would be a cool addition, but that’s just me. Any thoughts?

Feel free to post any thoughts of weapons other classes might be able to use.

Colin confirmed in an interview, there will be no new weapons, so no land-spear unfortunately. Heres what we know concerning specialization weapons so far, and what will come in my opinion.

Ranger – Staff – Confirmed by ArenaNet at PAX South
Necromancer – Greatsword – Confirmed by ArenaNet at PAX South
Engineer – Hammer – Seen in HoT trailer
Thief – Rifle – Seen in HoT trailer
Mesmer – Shield – Seen in HoT trailer

My opinions on ones we haven’t spotted yet.

Warrior – I think either pistols or daggers, focused around sustained damage, because lets face it, Warrior is only useful for burst DPS.

Guardian – Longbow please. They have no 1200 range weapon.

Elementalist – In the trailer, we see a light armour character with a sword, but its possible they could be a Mesmer, but I think sword would be the most appropriate.

Thief isn’t confirmed, that could have been an Engineer.

Engineers don’t tend to wear face masks or skin-tight leather, so im assuming its a Thief, like the other 90% of the community. If so, and it is an Engineer who’s just really out of character, the only other weapon i’d think the thief would get besides rifle is torch, or mace.

IMO a-net clearly dressed their chars for the trailer to make it obvios what it is supposed to be. And the engineer in the trailer wore the magitech armor and a new head piece while the ranger had his pet and wooden shoulders and a look like a druid..what leaves only the last medium class..beeing the thief and the “most likely thief” thief in the trailer dressed like an everyday thief with face mask and what not. So IF we can take the “a-net dresses their chars to look like a class stereotype” as a rule… then this could mean that rifle thief is comfirmed. Or my thoughts are absolute BS and thats just another engi…or a NPC that defys the class system like many do. We will see…but i actually do hope rifle thief is a thing cause that might be really interresting to play.

While I also think that norn is a thief, we can’t say for sure it is one, absolutely nothing prevents that norn to be an engineer.

sure doesnt… but that engineer in the trailer is already obviosly a norn.. thats what “bugs” me.
