To early release. With all the specs, unfinished, Druid still not revelead (as engineer spec), verdant brink maps (+ the other secret one) barely tested. Raids not tested (clearly not included in HoT), I think the release was pushed to soon. 2 months is not enough to fix all the issues and finsih the new specs and revenant. Take an example of The Witcher 3. They had courage to postpone twice, but people are now gratefull with an amazing game. They already forgot it was pushed twice, cause it’s GOOD. It has bugs, but overall reviews agree they are minimal (means the big bugs for such large scale game, all have been quelled pretty well).

Yes, they didn’t test many things… because core launch got rushed. By a lot.
That time, there were pandas to blame. Who are we going to blame now for this one? And since it seems equally rushed now, i just hope in january we won’t get the HoT equivalent of the mess that ascended reveal was for core.

Unfinished, doesn’t mean untested. Also they dont need to show everything in beta to test it. 95% of the testing is done by the Q&A team. The BWE is mostly to see how new systems and idea’s work with a large audiance and to see how less seasoned players (Q&A testers are considered very seasoned players cause they do it for a job), experience difficulty of mobs, events and progression.
For this you only need a small portion.

Also the specialisations. They are all known and being tested by them. A reveal is not equal to the actual thing.

I personally hate those company’s (like the people behind the witcher) that promise to release round a certain date and have to postpone it. It means they have not a real clue what they are doing. Arenanet is better (nowadays) and only announce that they are actually working on something when they know they will release it one day (HoT was being developped way before the announcement). They only tell us that they can release it somewhere this year when they are certain about it and tell us a date when they know they can deliver then. Much better as not having a clue and having to delay it three times!

GW2 core game was done that way. There where some bugs (mostly with the tradepost, and the old one has been clunky all along, only since they used a different embedded browser it got better, so it was a deep problem). So The fact that they are still revealing plans and are not delaying all the time has nothing to do with the quality.

There’s still a ton of balancing to do for the different game modes, haven’t released all the specs yet, confirmed that some of the changes won’t be available for the next BWE, fixed the new maps with the bugs and expoits already discovered, etc. Whatever they do release, if this date is legit, is just going to be a mess.

They might be able to shuffle off some of them (Chrono), but most still need some work on, and there are others (Tempest) that are not even close to being ready.

My thoughts? No ‘Halloween’ event on halloween. In-fiction the destruction of the pact fleet will have disrupted daily life. Not being paid any attention, the Bloody prince/Mad king will storm onto the scene sometime late november/early dec and we’ll have a ‘nightmare before christmas’ sort of deal with these characters getting their revenge over being spurned.

I think it will be a good year.

A: Both. Once Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns is available, you’ll be able to buy it digitally or get boxed editions at retail stores.

Note that they have not said the boxed edition will have a DVD in it. So far the “physical” copies are just a jewelcase holding a serial key.

We ain’t testing all of the expansion just the different Biomes in Verdant Brink, the day night cycle, elite specs, adventures and outposts as well as masteries thats it. The QA team tests the rest as Anet don’t want to spoil the whole expansion.

I think Wooden Potatoes suggested this may have been a mistake on ANet’s part as the tweet wasn’t in their twitter timeline but a private one to various sites and someone talked.

In POI they had to trot out Colin to do a five minute bit at the begining and it sounded very much like it was impromptu segment.

In the past, there’s been some . . . disastrous . . . hell, pretty much career-ending . . . situations on the forums that were followed up by blog posting.

Honestly, it’s more healthy for one’s career to say nothing at all. The community tends to use your words against you if promises are not followed through. And, as odd as it is, I think there’s some kind of approval committee before you’re allowed to post anything on these forums if you work for ANet.
