A lot of turmoil about the price of expansion..also about what veterans get in exchange of the base game included in HoT to new players and not needed to veterans
Well- we seem get a character slot worth 800 gems

I understand that any sort of actual refund would be waaay to hard to arrange, as well as suddenly changing prices for some player groups etc. would be plain silly to ask..
I also understand new players should not be handicapped too much and a bonus of gw2 is understandable..

SO:
anet- do you actually feel that base game is worth only those 800 gems you are giving veteran players in the form of a character slot?

I think that some bit more should be added to make it feel satisfying..

Here are some things that i think would be a nice way to balance things out:

PLEASE GIVE VETERAN PLAYERS A SUBSTANTIAL IN-GAME GIFT of:
/examples/
a) several thousands of gems;
b) a precursor of a choice (or even a legendary) (account bound on acquire to prevent market exploits);
c) BIG pile of materials of choice (saaaaay- a thousand lodestones of choice)..

any 2 of those should make us happy

AS REPLIES :

do NOT- complain about prices/policies and so on- this is not the topic for that

DO - write a short list of what you would think would be a substantial IN-GAME bonus to veteran players
-be reasonable in your wishes-
-try to be concise-
-be on the topic-

Summing things up so far:
*thread where ppl complain they do not like pricing, bonuses etc has 130 pages of post what they do not like
*thread where they could say what they would think would suffice- all seem to be perfectly fine
*some do tend to uplift their e-ego on any occasion, if no other way- with nicknames

i just wanted to see what players would have thought would mean “sufficient” for them..

it is a shame for some sufficient means verbal vomit

Guess you must been tagged by some mesmers…

Confusion spread all around your post..

Clearly dazed and immobilized thoughts as you wrote this request, which could have been something if you were not slowed to begin with or timewarped yourself a couple of days in the past, but now, I guess you are obviously mirroring others around this forum. The distortion of the world must have rubbed off somewhere….

I really hope somebody comes round with a condi cleanse, as these 1500 stacks of confusion have truly made you weird…

well- this is why i asked people to give their understanding on what they think would be enough.

a legendary- wishful thinking- true- but would make me jump in joy;
a precursor- why not- it IS just and exotic made overpriced by players;
gems or materials- why not- they do not make me overly powerful- but would help- worst thing- some money flippers on market would loose investments- cant say i cannot live with that.

so- what will YOU consider a to be sufficient?

Yes they do, and I think so, too. The game is three years old now, and it was on sale for 10$ for months. Look at other games that released in 2012, that kind of price drop is completely normal in the video game industry. By adding the base game to HoT, Anet gets rid of the outdated concept of letting new players buy all expansions seperately before they can enjoy the full game

Yep, totally reasonable.

And yes I think the base game is worth only 800 gems, because they already sold it for 10€ (which is 800 gems).

I think thats too much for a veteran player, we already get an extra slot if we have been playing before January, as a veteran i am contented with the 3 years of progression i had in the game over a new player
For me the question comes is a mini expansion +3 years of content worth the 50 dollars?
I am inclined to believe so

Guess they left you behind eh… No condi cleanses for the lad…. Sorry to see so.

SO I get 4000 gems, 2 character slots, all the other thingies, worth ~80 euro and the game? I guess I’m happy. In the end I understand I just bougt a lot of o’s and 1’s…..

Getting specific series of 0’s and 1’s (pres/ legendaries) are ingame achievements, I want something to do

Getting more gems would lower the PROFIT of this sale reducing the chance I’ll ever see a second upgrade to this game

Getting a huge amount of lodestones would destroy the enonomy as I’d get 3 infinite light(s) for free… making the skin of Infinite light drop to 1 gold in a matter of hours.

SO yes very confused…

I think since I already pre-ordered, was happy with my order, got suspended from these forums for saying things to people that called me names and not complaining like most so called “veterans”

I deserve more than just another free character slot then anyone who is still complaining to this day. LOL

Anyways not trying to lose my access again.. All I know is this just proves that no matter what, you can not make everyone HAPPY.

Veterans players are not getting character slot for for simply buying base HoT package.
They will get it if they pre-purchase. If you’re a vet who buys it at release day or later – sorry you get zip save x-pac itself.

This makes sense as it is a pre-purchase bonus, not a HoT-buying bonus. Why offer the base package for the same as pre-purchase? Why would anybody, then, pre-purchase the game?

Well, as someone who has been playing Guild Wars 2 since August 25, 2012 and who played Guild Wars 1 for years before that, I expect nothing extra for purchasing/pre-purchasing HoT. ArenaNet would be perfectly justified in charging even more for their expansion and offering nothing extra. When you purchased the game, you knew what you were getting, and that is what you got. You are now entitled to nothing. You’ve already gotten more than what you are entitled to. Consider some appreciation.

As for the bonuses you suggested:
Lots of Gems- You are aware that mircro-transactions are ArenaNet’s primary source of income when they are not releasing a game/expansion, right? They are a business after all.
Legendary- What starts off as the most prestigious and most powerful class of weapon freely given out to players who already owned the base game? So much for all that prestige.
Precursor- Let’s be realistic. Those who get this are going to want to go for a legendary for the aforementioned prestige. The thing is, these take an insane amount of materials to craft. The vast majority of the playerbase do not have these on hand and will be forced to turn to the trading post, assuming they have all the coin. This will lead to hyperinflation of the material market; thus harming those who wished to craft legendaries from precursors they had already obtained, other higher level gear of rare, exotic, or ascended quality, and even those who want to craft legendaries with the precursor your insight just got them. What’s that you say, you can also just give them the:
Lots of Materials- Disregarding the aforementioned economy damage, the market would be utterly saturated. You remember the candy corn back from Halloween in 2012 right? Imagine that on steriods with lodestones.

If you don’t like their policies related to the release of HoT, you are free to refrain from purchasing it. Again, you know what is being offered in exchange from your money. Just like last time, you are free to walk away from the table.

That question didn’t seem to bother them at all, until yesturday, if you catch my drift.
