How I think specializations will unlock
How do you people think we will unlock specializations?
Reach level 80 and speak with a class trainer.

I think they’ll make it fairly simple. No need to grind for a bunch of stuff just to get a spec.

I think it will be this AND some kind of side quest/story mode. Similar to how players can unlock traits, but more single player oriented.
That way players can play through it if they like, or they can just buy it if they’ve already done it once or are lazy.
Anet is going to overhaul the current trait system in HOT due to its unpopularity(no detail on how), highly doubt they will do something similar again.
I am with the “Reach level 80 and speak with a class trainer” guy. :P

Finding the traits is the least of the current systems problems. But specific to finding the traits, if they were all open world easter egg hunts as opposed to doing dungeons or killing the end boss at the end of some zone wide chain that requires 20+ people, a free hour, etc. the current system would have been somewhat tolerable.
You forgot to add Gift of fortune !! I mean its no fun unless you get 250 of all the t6 mats too!!!

mastery points.
The question one has to ask is: How will PvP or WvW players get access to specializations?

If it is “Go talk to class trainer”, well, there are Class Trainers standing around in the PvP-Lobby, and I’d imagine they could put one Spec-Trainer into the new Borderland.
even though you put a bit more wit into it than usual, your unfocused lashing out is tiresome as always.

my bet is for it to be part of the mastery track. e.g. work on the “druid mastery” and once you do that, you unlock the druid specialization for your account
OP, you are insane and sadistic. And if I had to do that for every character? I wouldn’t buy the expansion and I would probably quit playing.
I expect to talk to my class trainer.
I wonder what your basis for comparison is…”

It would be amazing if we could run a quest (like the stor misions) but class-related in order to get the specializations.
For example a mesmer would have something to do with the Mesmer Society (it is known that Countness Anise and Kasmeer Meade are part of it) or something like that.
You should prepare for your great finale.

This.
Or we will see some another horrible timegated and grind heavy way of getting it.
Or they will be available in gemstore.
Or we will have to drop some special scroll from a mobs with a chance of 0.01%.
Or everything combined.
I am ready for anything.

Christ i hope not….
I hate to be that guy but if i’ve got grind all that crap just to have my necro use a GS i may actually have to quit.
pretty sure it was already touched on that specialisations are a part of the mastery system

Interesting that you are sure but yet this is the first time I see it being mentioned. I seriously doubt it.
Ohhh the ideas here. All this speculation.
The OP post is kittened since this is one of the things that is gated behind the expansion I would expect it to be readily available for me to use when I log in to whatever amount of $$$ expansion I get.
I dotn think you will have to go to the trainer either. You will be able to swap specialization out of combat anywhere and anytime. But yeah maybe the first time will be something you will have to pay for with in game currency. That gemstore speculation cracked me up completely. Anet maybe horrible in some things but they really know how to conduct business. I love this game and I trust Anet to make the right decisions.
