How do i enjoy HoT?
you dont find anything only small chain events no world boss no big event boss like teq/TT Tangled depths is incredible big boring empty map with some event what can do again and again. level 1-15 zones in core game is better that hot zones
if you think thats a problem, wait until you try to grind for your elite spec skill points. only a few of them can be soloed and majoirty has to be fought by 5 to 10 group. I guess GW2 is close to end. i am tired of all this useless skills, ranger becoming a healer and allot more useless.
I suggest you ask people for help in the chat or announce that you’re about to do an event at location X.
some examples:
“hi, I’m about to participate/start this event in a minute, feel free to join me”
“hi, does anyone else need this Hero Point?”
Alternatively you can look out for someone with the commander tag and follow him/her around.
good luck & have fun
yea when i final unlock my reaper i will never go to hot zone maps never!!!!!!!!!!!!!! only when go again do hero points for another character or go raids if they release them. i like play what i want world boss/dungeons/fractals/wvw/pvp completing maps for characters but i dont want to be forced to stay in 1 things.
I gonna be honest, I’ve been playing HoT solo and I actually completed personal story and have done every single boss.
Tbh I never did try to unlock my elite specialization since I’m an elementalist and Tempest seems like a terrible elite

user name so i can add u. it is hard to find for players to hunt with.
My impression of HoT is very bad! As a wvw player I find no access to any of the content! I die every 5 min! The start map verdant brink is a maze. Even if there is a commander around, you can never catch up to him, because you simply dont find him.
I`m extremely frustrated and regret buying!!
In regards to wvw… I have a couple of hundred ability points I can not use for anything! Getting hero points in wvw is rather inefficient…
I guess hardcore pve players may love that expansion. But there is nothing there for me!
First off, take a deep breath. Second, find a PvE or PvX guild that is willing to train through HoT content.
The solo unfriendly content is annoying to me too (smokescales anyone?); but even a modest group of 5-10 can get through most content.
I honestly don’t know.
So i have no friends in GW2, i bought HoT thinking this wouldnt be a problem since pre-HoT everything was easily doable with random players on the map – OR SOLO.
In HoT, i spend hours running around looking for something —ANYTHING-- to do and when i finally do find it its impossible to complete without a group of 5-10-20+ people, people that arent anywhere nearby because the maps are so sprawling and vast.
Now the game is beautiful and the massive intricate maps are cool, its just a shame i seem to be unable to find ANYTHING to do on them.
So, how am i supposed to start enjoying HoT? Where do i find the content ?
If you’re in Verdant Brink, it depends on whether it’s day or night. If it’s day, and you are there at the beginning of the day, you can follow Laranthir and the Pale Reaver event chain, which will usually gather people as it goes. Or you can head to the Itzel village and try to pick up that event chain there. These are both places to start if you are learning the map. If you miss both of those, it’s a good time to explore, learn the map and look for Mastery and Hero Points. As you do so, you will come across other events.
If it’s night, it’s easier. Pick a rally point or two to defend. Those will be the focal points of events and other players will gravitate to them. The two just inside Verdant Brink are close together and you can focus on reinforcing, defending, and recapturing them as necessary. In between events, look for Pact Supplies to bring to the rally points to boost their defenses.
Generally, you want to defend during the night and explore during the day.
Edit: Honestly, I don’t think the difficulty is as bad as it is being made out to be. I’m a pretty casual player, I have terrible old person reflexes, and I was running around Verdant Brink all weekend doing events and having fun. Just take your time, pay attention to your surroundings, and figure out the trick to beating the various mob types. Get a feel for what you can handle and what you can’t, and keep an eye out for other players. Usually they will show up for the big event chains and rally points.
