Like the title stated above, how does one get into HOT after we buy the expansion? I got my key and I’ve been searching for it on the forums. Do I need to go to a certain area then POOF! I’m in? or is it on another server?

Silverwastes. In the west-southwest of Brisban Wildlands there is a portal.

But if you bought it there should be a new button on the character screen that says create beta. Click that one and you port directly into the Silverwastes after you create your toon.

Mind you, you can’t get to HoT with normal characters at the time, because HoT is not out yet.

You can only get into the beta with a beta char right now. The actual expansion isn’t going to be released until October 23rd.

As been explained to you, you will need to use one of your Beta character slot and create a level 80 char (which will have access to three chest with gear and three chests with consumables [sigil, runes, food and tools]). Make sure that you right click on each gear and trinkets after you open chest and pick which stats you want. Remember to put runes on your gear (six pieces + UW headpiece) and the same goes for weapon (pick stats) and add sigils. Make sure that you have the traits you want enabled in your Hero panel before going out in the world (WvW, PvE, sPvP).

During beta weekend your character will be lvl 80 and have full access to all skills and traits which you normally would have to train and get Hero Points to get access to. When you enter Verdan Brink from Silverwaste (you character will be start here), you will have a short introduction (story; green star on map) and if you take a look at your Hero panel [press H] you will see the new mastery point system which is only active on this map. Do your VB story to get your first Mastery Point for (training/learning) gliding which will make movement on this map much easier. You will have to pick which line in MP you want to build during your adventures. To some degree Hero Points and Mastery Point work much the same way as you have to find these and collect enough to get skills or traits (or for MP; new Mastery). You have to collect MP on map and then build with points until you have finished that level of training and can begin to take next line (like more advanced gliding) or pick something else to to learn like jumping on Mushrooms.
