Guild Wars 2

I have been trying for 3 days to advance my story line in the Verdent Brink. For the past 3 nights there’s an event running right on top of where my story line is located, so I can’t progress.

Each night I have waited over an hour for the event to finish but it never does. As I can’t do the event myself to clear (way too hard hitting mobs), I have to give up and go and play on a low lvl alt. Getting a bit fed up with this, how long do these event stay up if no groups are clearing them?

I’m confused how an event is blocking your story progress. Can you identify the story step and event causing issue? I haven’t encountered this on any alt to be able to advise.
