I’ve been playing pretty much constantly all weekend and only have 33. I should have 34 but after beating Octovine our door to the hero point never opened. There’s apparently two more I can get without really high masteries or progressing farther in the last map’s meta event. And because I’m starting with one of my alts I STILL don’t have my elite spec finished….

Only the ones I had from previous maps in Tryia.

I started HoT with 214 HP (world complete plus level 80). Yesterday and the day before I ran around in a guild group getting them and unlocked Daredevil. Now I have 4 points.

So I guess I got 20 challenges and stopped doing them on that alt. I might have to try doing another one to make sure I can still accrue points.

I’ve got about 80% of my Reaper unlocked. I had about 100 Hero Points before. Hoping to finish it off in a couple of days.

Im not sure how many i unlocked, but i maxed out on my elite spec this morning. I only really needed gliding+mushroom jumping to max out. You only need more than that if your character is a fresh lv80 and has no core tyria hero points at all.

Anyone who is having a hard time i would suggest visiting dufly, she has posted guides for the first two zones!

Not many. Due to the timezone I’m in, getting people to help slay the champion hero points has proven almost impossible

Started with 100 HPs on my main from regular Tyria, found two Hero challenges (20 hps) in HOT before being gated by the masteries, couldn’t be kittened to grind gliding beyond level 1, so I went back to WvW where I’ve so far got another 100 via rank chests.

I’ve been doing non stop wvw got 176 from there so far, and 60 HP from first map. Wish I had map completion from before on my revenant somehow

I work a later shift than most people so I know that feeling.

Also, what makes this even crazier is that I’ve had to bypass the mastery requirements for like 5 or 6 of these points to even get them because they want me to have absurd things like ley line gliding. There was one where you have to eat rotten food and it wanted you to have adrenal mushrooms, but I got around it by using food and a regen booster and having an engineer and chronomancer spam regen and alacrity on me. Some of them are outright ridiculously hard to find because it gives you little indication of how to get there.

One of them in Tangled Depths looks like you find it around the Rata Novus lane, but you actually get there by going to some totally different area of the map and traveling a huge distance in the beetle adventure. How are you supposed to even figure that out when the hero point is nowhere near the start of the adventure?

One of them in the last map requires you to go a waypoint other than the closest one and then climb some obscure jumping puzzle, and then have to glide onto a platform that’s like 3 pixels wide and if you miss you have to start all over. Honestly, this would be really cool to have discovered, except that my ability to even play my Elite Spec relies on my finding this thing. The whole time there were like 5 or 6 people below the point trying to figure out how to get up, but the solution is in a totally different area of the map and there’s no clues to tell you that.

Yeah I can’t seem to find any in the HoT maps. Probably need masteries to get them…… Not that I care, the elite specs look like junk anyway.

19. I started with world completion so that was all I needed to finish my spec. It’s going to be a nightmare to get a complete unlock on all my other characters without world completion. Especially as we enter post-launch cooldown and it becomes increasingly difficult to find people to defeat the champs with.

I finished the story last night and was thinking it would be nice to further explore the new zones or do some Halloween events and work on Tyrian masteries but had to question whether it would be better to run alts to hero points while there are still people around. Halloween will be back next year and I can explore the new zones any time I want but once people abandon the new zones they’re not likely to come back and I can’t solo champs in 5 minutes so I need to prioritise that.

Working on Herald and currently sitting on a amazing 70 points! I can use a shield and be a handicap for my party because i cant use any utility skills and the traits related to them.

Fun stuff because now i cant access any other hero challenges until i get the next set of masteries.

Gawd people, I dont get what are alot of people doing wrong, between my characters Ive already got about 700+ points… This update is not even a week old …………………………………………………

The farther you go, the harder it gets. Having to get a group to fight champions is nothing once you get to extreme mastery gated points, but since you got all the other points you’re forced to try and cheese the points without masteries anyway or never play your class in a reasonable amount of time. Some of these are also hidden behind obscure jumping puzzles and the hero point icons don’t help you find where to start AT ALL. Tangled Depths in particular has extremely misleading icons and I have spent multiple hours near the icons only to later learn that you have to start somewhere totally different to reach them.

My warrior had all the hero points she needed when HoT launched, I didn’t know it either – thanks map completion

105 shy of what I need to complete the spec. With only moderate effort at best

almost got my reaper done, 0 right now but need only 10 more 10-12 maguuma HP to finish my reaper. After that, i’ll play through HoT, get my masteries up then tackle it with my halfway done scrapper

9/11 on the first two, 7-9/11 on the third, and 2/7 on DS. So basically all of them… just doing minor mapping to fill in gaps on Revenant and other characters as needed.

Got better things to do then waste 40 hours of my life on a pointless grind for herald.

Two characters are maxed. No biggie. Once you unlock the masteriest, you can reach them on all your toons. Just bring friends or lfg for the champs. You’re not the only one trying to get the skill points. (I solo play, so if I’m able to find groups, I imagine most everyone else will be able to also).

There are still a few I need more masteries to unlock, but when I get them, characters w/o map completion will be able to max out as well.

I was a huge opponent of the 400 HP gate. Now it doesn’t seem so bad.

Herald maxed out after 2 days. Got Berserker a day later. Both 0 points at the moment. Updraft and mushrooms were the only masteries I needed. Some hero points required help, otherwise it was solo clearing it with just a few seconds left on the timer.

Edit: so I guess 600 points after 3 days. Warrior already had world complete.

i have 8 lvl 80. each with 100% Central Tyria map completion, and 10/11 Verdant Brink Hero’s Challenge completed. now moving on to Auric Basin. 1 character already got 7/11.
