I’m just curious the average and all.

Is there a way to separate pre and post expansion hours, unless you noticed at the time? Cuz I didn’t note down my hours played at expansion start.

Like Flesh say no way to use in game tool to see. To make guess I would guess maybe 15-20 hour. I do not like HoT map or event even though I try to. Not hard just annoy with mob all over do not get chance to enjoy explore map because always seem mob attack every where with strong attack. Also many map confuse to explore like giant jump puzzle and long timer on map event. So I go to unlock some mastery and elite skill then never return. Will go back if Anet make some change.

I’ve done VB meta 3-4 times, Tarir 5 times; gotten HP’s for 9 Elite Specs (minimum of 4 challenges per character). Yet to see TD or DS except on my friend’s screen. Doesn’t look like a ton of fun, not in a hurry. Maybe 20-25 hours since mid-December purchase.

That said, HoT is not my cup of tea. I knew it was not, which is why I waited for a reduced price. At the moment, though, even at the reduced price I’m not sure I’ve gotten my money’s worth, except maybe for playing the specs.

Perhaps a better question would be, how many Mastery points do you have and how many are from the new maps? That would give an indication of time played.

To answer that question, I have 88 Mastery points of which 47 are in the new areas. However I have 3 filled out mastery lines that need 28 Mastery points to finish them. I haven’t bothered to get these Mastery points as I’m not particularly in need of those Masteries. If added to the total, it would be 116.

Hot’s my favorite area of the game right now, and I’ve easily spent a couple of hundred hours in it. When I learned they were making it less grindy, however, I took a break. I’m catching up on other odds and ends now, and I’ll enjoy the rebirth of HoT after the spring patch changes (I hope anyway).

Probably 4 or 5 hours tops. Long enough to get gliding plus a brief foray now and again to see if it is still as frustratingly annoyingly frustrating and annoying as I first thought. It is.

I maxed out 161 (still never done vale guardian) a couple of months ago. After this I played less in HOT, but until then quite a lot, I alotted about 500 – 600h since hot hit and I estimate that I played around 250-400h in HOT alone. I finished all the events numerous times. Can’t count how many. But about 20-25 times all the meta events on all maps. so that means about 100 meta events. Some days I stayed in one map for 4-5 hours to finish all the meta achievements.

I’ve got about 15 hours. Explored the first and second maps, and made it to the third. I mainly go there to farm the flax spot and get HPs for my characters. Guess I haven’t done the whole “git good” that other players keep talking about. Keep in mind that I usually spend about an hour at a time playing video games so ive never done any of those meta things or even tried a raid. Doesn’t fit in my time-table, nor does spending 10+ hours learning to do raids sound like my idea of fun.

I know a lot of folks will tell me to “git good” but I play to relax. I spend my brain power making IRL money and use GW2 to relax as time permits.

Played about 7XX- 800 hours and have done countless of map metas 2x Gift of Maguumas and crafted Astralaria… so i’ve played HoT a LOT and still enjoying it.

/age typed in chat will tell you how long you’ve played the character you’re on at the time and overall playtime across account (days and hours). Of course it doesn’t split it between core and HOT.

/deaths will tell you how many times that particular character has died (for the morbid ones)

20ish hours, only 50% in story. Nothing against hot maps but I was helping my wife level and finishing up some stuff in core. But I’ve done VB meta so many times lol, but its just good cash.

I’ve finished the HoT maps + story on 7 of my 9 chars, plus did a ton of meta event farming to complete some skin collections. I’d guess, around 250 hours by now, but that won’t be all.
If you’re counting ALL HoT stuff, like precursor collections, fractals etc, it will be much more, but I can’t really estimate any numbers.

I’ve actually more or less taken a break from HoT now, until the rework comes out. That is to say I’ve hit the point of diminishing returns as far as farming stuff goes. I feel like I got my money’s worth and I’m working on stuff like precursor collecting and still doing guild missions, plus putting some alts through stories that I’ve fallen behind on.

I do hope people who don’t like it give it another try when the update hits. As always if anyone needs help learning or getting around the new zones, my proverbial door is always open.

even if they nerf it to hell, i still wont do it
the only thing, that they could lure me back with is new casual content
but, at least it looks MUCH prettier, than Orr

I am shocked how few you played in HOT maps. Why so shy? A friend of mine just got into it and after a couple of times and getting used to it he told me how awesome the new maps are. Just get used to it and you will finally get more of your masteries…

because, we already did similar content in SW/DT(and that didnt cost 50$)
they would have to pay me real $$, to do this
i would only need masteries , to play the hardcore content..and i dont play that
anyway

Zero, I don’t preorder games and make sure I take time to find out exactly what they’re like before purchasing.

It’s a few people who answered the thread on the forums. In a guild of well over 200 people, the only people in my guild that haven’t played HOT content are people who didn’t buy HoT, mostly a few new free to play players. All active players in my guild have played the hell out of hot.

All you need do is look at the LFG and you’ll see HoT stuff all pretty much all the time.

Not sure why anyone would think this thread is representative.

I got HoT thinking the story would be fun. Instead I find myself lacking the motivation to bother because the zones suck so much that I absolutely detest playing in them unless someone drags me to a zerg.

So basically I paid £25 so I could use Elite specs in PvP…

While I’m sure raids and stuff would be fun, I left that timesink behind after graduating.

Finished the story and got out of there. To this day I still only have AB map completion.
