Fwiw, I expect the expansion price to be ~$50 US, in other words ~45 EU. Why? Other top MMO’s have retailed their expansions for $10 less than the retail on the game.

Better not be $60 Australian, thats the price for a full game and would be outrageous.
Miranda Zero – Ele / Twitch Zero – Mes / Chargrin Soulboom – Engi
Aliera Zero – Guardian / Reaver Zero – Necro

$10 for an expansion to an mmo that has been around for almost 3 years with no subscription fee or pay to win features. More than $10 is not worth it to you? Poor Anet. There is no satisfying some of you people.
The full game was literally $10 multiple times very recenently. That’s less than I pay for 2 pints, or a weeks worth of coffee, or lunch at Subway.
/shrug
But probably it will be more than 35€… we all know the $ to € conversion is 1:1 for anet.
Yeah, that will be a little european thing called VAT. Blame governments not Arena Net.
I remember paying ~60€ for gw2 pre-order, so ~50€ would be the price. I think it would be a normal price for a b2p game. WoW Wotlk (last xpac i ever bought) was like 40€ but that’s a p2p game.

Actually for the amount of features they’ve shown us so far, 35 is stretching it. 30 would be much better. Anything over that, and the info they haven’t shown us yet must be jaw dropping to justify it. For a transitional/filler mini expansion (cause so far this is how it fells like to >me<) 30 euros is more than enough (for >me<). The things offered don’t justify more than that. But I’m sure glad others are ready to fork 50 or even 60 euros at it. More power to ‘em, the game needs the cash and they will help while I -probably- wait for the sale to pop out :P or, I won’t have anything else to play at that time and i’ll fork it too. God i hope not. I don’t want to reward (what i consider) bad habbits from game companies…

Are you comparing the original game with the expansion? Because the original game has a lot more content than the expansion and yet it’s going to be 4 times cheaper.
I’ll wait for the Sterling price. If it’s 40 Euro, then the Sterling price should be under £30. But it won’t be, it will be £40. As we get ripped off by every game company in the UK, pretty sure Anet won’t be any different. We’ll end up getting stuffed as usual.
Sales tax doesn’t account for the difference.

You gotta let your economy crash first to let your currency reach the same level as the dollar and Euro. Bam, no more price inequality :P

A full sub, a large drink, and chips or a cookie can hit that pretty easily.

Their cheapest subs are about $3.80 after tax for a 6", but if you get a 12" and it’s not their ham, meatball, Italian, or whatever ones, you’re looking at around $7 just for the sandwich. A drink and chip thing is an additional $2.10 – $2.60 or so, which could put you easily near $10. Make it a premium sub and you’re looking at almost $10 from the sandwich alone.
No thnaks 40euro for 1 weapon for each class and reworked traits ? maybe a few maps …
Not worth …. max I’m willing to give is 20 Euro and only to check what Necro Great Sword is about …You’re missing a few features there, like, 90% of them.
Also all following content which will be add later after release… just like it was with gw2 release.
And trait change will be free and updated before expens… u get 1 elit spec (1 trait line+weapon)in HOT
When we will see all content in polished release state… Then judge about price. And 40 Euro isnt that much what so ever. Its any way a choice … Dont want… dont buy it.

Wow… sounds like I’m saving money by not eating at subway :-P
Their bread:meat ratio was always a bit off for me anyways.

The best way to save money is to never eat out. It’s always less expensive to purchase your food unprepared and make it yourself, even compared to dollar menu things from McBurgerclown’s. Sometimes local delis will have awesome deals on sandwiches 3-4x the size of a subway sandwich but nearly the same price.
Either way, I guess the point of all this is you could pick up the expansion for a few visits to a fast food restaurant. If people really like the game and want to support it, it is hard to justify not getting the expansion compared to seemingly needless purchases of cheap food that we could have instead gone without.

You might not personally feel like the expansion is going to fit your need for quantity of content, but don’t be disingenuous and pretend like it isn’t coming out with more than you say it is to fit a particular agenda of yours, whatever it may be. From what you’ve typed in your past two posts, you clearly do not know about all of the things they’ve announced so far as you leave most of them out, which is why I called you out on it.
Your opinion isn’t an opinion if you’re claiming for a fact that it’s merely “one more weapon per class and some masteries, maybe a map”.
To play devil’s advocate for a minute, at first taking a glance at what was to come it sounded like a glorified paid feature pack with a map thrown in as a bonus. But then again I’m playing the waiting game like everyone else, so I’m going to stay completely neutral to the matter to whenever get another more in depth look on these features.
But that’s perfectly reasonable to do. We don’t know all of the information, but we do know a good bit and it’s much more than they would ever do in a single update patch. I’m also holding back my excitement because I don’t feel like overhyping it. I would rather have it pleasantly surprise me with more than I thought it would have. I’m a little antsy about the “challenging content” information, because this might be the big part, but again trying to not get too hyped.
To be fair…
I’m a veteran GW1 player. During the 5 year wait for GW2 there where always a lot of people qq-ing bout the lack of features and the lack of content that the game would have. In the end it turned out to be a lot bigger then we all expected.I truly think that there is a lot more in HoT then what is told to us so far. Keep in mind they confirmed that they where working on “other stuff then the living world and feature packs” atleast since summer 2013. They only just told us it would be an expansion.
There is also a good reason they can’t tell us everything yet. You might have noticed, but many other games have copied stuff from GW2. Arenanet is revolutionary in the way they aproach the genre. Telling us everything also means that competitors know.
Even if the price would be 60 euro’s and even if the content would be dissapointing, I would still get. Arenanet, to me, has changed the way to think bout mmorpg’s. the lack of monthly fees is totally worth spending 60 euro’s again!
Compared to some other games it is still a 100 euro win per year (60 euro’s for the original game, means 20 euro per year, compared to 120 euro’s on monthly fees a year, that is a 100 euro gain to me)
If you have some links or sources to the games that allegedly copied GW2, I’d like to see them. Not to call you a liar or anything, but I want to research that for myself.
To jump on what you said earlier about people crying about missing features or lack of content, yeah that’s been going on way before beta. Anet is no stranger to controversy, whether it’s content or whatever. I don’t think it’s directly “Oh, we don’t want our competitors to know what we’re doing” and I think their self restricting policies had a hand in that issue. What I do think is people thinking they’re going to get a subscription-ish expansion and some will be disappointed no matter how much content is in there.

will do thank you for your advice
The absolute highest price it would be is $49.99 + whatever taxes/etc for the standard edition. You can assume the deluxe is +$10-20 and the ultimate is another +$10-20 (but it’s probably the base game + season 2 + HoT deluxe).
The real price however will likely be between $30 and $40. Pricing should be announced by the end of next week, assuming they want to release this year.

More than $0, but less than $1,000,000.
(That’s in USD, naturally, since they’re based in the US.)
probably ~30-35€
