How to get mastery exp?
Like any good investment it’s gonna take some time and some work. Although, I’ve heard that Dragon Stand is the best map for XP gain.
Itzel poison lore is not necessary for the story.
They removed that requirement sometime after release.

Thanks it told me I had to get poison mastery and when I saw how far down that was I logged off. Logged back in and my objective changed to following some tracks. Dodged a bullet there. Had the control panel open ready to uninstall.
Funny thing about this game is do things one time and another is how its works, you know? How many of those you need to fall sleep or smash your keyboard is up to you.
Those maps have a lot events to do before you need to repeat. Some of those are funny, some are not that much and some are awful, I agree. But, at the end of the day XP is based on events and rewards, all in this game has been played 1 time at least, no thing new until ANet adds, and then that will become in something played and repeatedly done.
Park alt(s) at adventures and do them daily for ~100k exp in about a minute each. You can also use the % experience bonus boosters on them. When it comes to time spent, adventures are the best source of experience.
I have the opposite problem, I have the experience built up but can’t get enough mastery points to spend. I’m only halfway through TD but already 6 MPs short to do Ley Lines, and still working on Itzel poison and Exalted lines

That is a bug. It tells me that as well even though I have everything maxed out already.
Firstly, Dragon stand is awesome for XP, but i found getting xp isnt the problem as i have most its the stupid MP i having difficulty with as those maps are hard to navigate.

Yeah, in the end, XP isn’t the real bottleneck. You don’t even have to grind that much, to be honest. I’ve got all my HoT XP and I did the last levels by doing a couple of adventures and a single DS a day for a few days. Granted, I like both adventures and DS, but it’s still not that bad.
MP points are another thing altogether. Unlike XP, which I can get doing literally anything on any of the four maps, Mastery Points require a lot more directed effort. I’ve done the story, and have all the MPs from DS, all but one from VB (kitten you, Shooting Gallery gold), and 95% of AB. I’m still 16 short, which means a ton of time chasing achievements in Tangled Depths and hoping that I get better at the more challenging adventures.

The majority of the points from the story are from just going through it once not from the achievements.
The majority of my hot mastery exp came from TD + DS with exp buff active.
