How to make gold in HOT?
Best way to earn gold nowadays is selling stuff on the TP. Cursed Shore and Silverwastes are still kinda good places to do that, but most of things that everyone wants nowadays are in the new HoT maps. Things you might do is farm flax nodes found in all the new maps (there are two flax farms, one at the very bottom of Verdant Brink below the Jaka Itzel Waypoint, and one in Tangled Depths at the very top of The Great Tree NW of the Ogre lane WP), sell any Black Diamonds you find from locked chests and mining (used to make the very popular Viper’s gear) or making and selling Ley-Line Infused Tools, ( which requires Charged Quartz, as well as Ley-Line Sparks found in the Crystallized Supply Caches that are in Tangled Depths, the third HoT map). There is also a new Map bonus system, where you semi-randomly earn additional rewards (usually crafting mats) for events. The next reward and list of possible rewards can be found mousing over zone names on the world map, and smart use of that can get you a decent amount of rare goodies like Charged Lodestones or Powerful Blood you can sell or keep for you own use.
For straight gold, no TP involved, best thing now is Tequatl, and Triple Trouble if you can find a organized map (which is a bit easier now since the condition damage revamp). Fractal rewards are kinda terrible right now, but Anet is planning on buffing them in December. Luckily this involves, among other things, improving the drops of the Fractal Encryptions that you earn after each fractal island, so you can stockpile those (and the keys that open them, as they will be changing the Stabilizing Matrix price for encryption keys from getting 2 keys per matrix to only 1 key per matrix) now and wait until they improve the drops before cracking them open.
Most of the “liquid” rewards in HoTs comes in the form of map currency, and while you’ll want a bunch of all of them to buy the recipes to the new stat sets and the items needed for the latest collections, if money in your pocket is your #1 goal, then you’ll want to spend that currency on the “key” (though only one of them is actually a key, and you’ll probably earn enough Pact Crowbars from Verdant Brink meta-progress rewards that you’ll never have to buy them) used to unlock that map’s equivalent of DT Buried Locked chest and make bank off of the stuff you find. For Verdant Brink and Tangled depths, the Airship Cargo and Crystallized Supply Cache “chests” are found across the map and become more plentiful as the event chains in those zone progress. In Auric Basin, all the chests are found below the central city after the Octovine event, and the number of Grand and Great chests (the only ones worth openning) you have access to depends on how well that event went. In Dragon Stand, while there are a handful (i.e. less than ten) Noxious Pods that appear randomly and can be found and looted at any time, the vast majority are only found in the areas that are opened for 15 minutes after the map’s meta event is completed successfully.
Finally, if you’re one of those people who used to buy cloth gloves from karma vendors and dump them into the TP, Leather has surpassed cloth in almost every tier (though Thick leather is atm still dirt cheap compared to silk)

@Foefaller.1082 Maybe you could help me on this. Where do I get the keys to open the Crystal Chests in TD please?
The merchant at the start sells it if you have mastery for ley line crystals
Here’s a tip: Gather materials and sells.
No one is going to tell you further than that. Not because we don’t want to share with you, but when we start telling the public, that’s when it starts becoming ineffective.

Nuhoch Mastery Vendors sell the Chak Acid used to open those chests, and only if you’ve earned the Nuhoch Acceptance Mastery (second Nuhoch mastery I believe)
You can also earn 1 Chak Acid a day from the Ley-Energy matter Converter you earn if you beat the final boss in Dragon’s Stand in less than 20 minutes. Which is pretty easy to get nowadays, as long as the map doesn’t fail because people aren’t spreading out enough.
Don’t underestimate the worth of running around core Tyria gathering lower tier mats. Before my daily farming runs, I check TP for what is fetching a good price, and wow can it add up. Woods especially have been a good bet because you need 5 planks (either 15-20 wood, depending) to make one sheet of paper. That paper is not only needed for scribing but also for certain Guild Hall upgrades.
Pre-HoT something like soft wood wasn’t all that expensive. Lately it’s running anywhere between 4.50 silver and even 6 silver per piece depending on time of day.
Between the ton of gathering boosts that were just taking up space in my vault, and the guild hall gathering buff, one can make a nice little nest egg. (or as in our case, the mats can be sold to purchase other mats needed for GH upgrades)
Thanks guys for the answers above, and wow @Foefaller.1082 didnt expect such details info, tho i dont know much about them since i havent been in the new zones much, but i’ll try stick around and learn. @Hakuryuu.8634 true im not asking any secrets or tricks just cos i only got the expansion not long ago and abit lost on what to do lol. and thanks @Peakitten.6412 yea im gonna start doing some gathering too on the side.
