How to tell Day and Night?
The Wiki provides this information:
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Day_and_night#Schedule
Good luck.
I’m actually a fan of typing /wiki event timer while in-game, and using that page. Verdant Brink follows the day/night cycle, and you can see what events you can catch in the meantime.
Edit: A contributor has now made “/wiki et” for quicker access.

I like http://dulfy.net/2015/11/09/gw2-hot-maps-timer-famme/ as I find it easier to read at a glance than the wiki page; I have it perma-tabbed in my browser for one click access. VB’s day/night is the same as day/night throughout the open world.
The wiki timer has more information but the famme timer gives me just what I need to know for the most part of my play.

Really? They look pretty much the same to me (apart from the wiki having the world bosses too).

There are plenty of timers available (at least two on the wiki, dulfy, gw2timer, …) plus overlays plus phone apps plus … Each as its own pros and cons. Some look the same to me, most don’t.
I’ve yet to see a post in which everyone agreed on the favorite — I recommend looking at several and choosing the one that works best for you.
just find the chat link to any weapon from Ascalon Catacombs dungeon, and preview it. if it is glowing blue, you know it’s night. if not, it’s daytime.

I’m pretty sure it always daytime in the preview window. Correct me if I’m wrong.

I’ve never seen it show the night version in preview windows. I’ve wanted to get those weapons before, but the inability to preview them in-game has made me reluctant.
Isnt it sad, we need spec weapons or timer to know if its day or night?
Just make the night 10-20% darker.
Get Eternity.
jk, it is a bit troublesome to find out. I personally wish there was at least an in-game option of making nights more “nighty” and increasing light-effects.
Best in-game day/night timer is a Sylvari toon – yay for bioluminescence!

I wonder and wonder time over time why people are so helpless and can’t check google/wiki for 5 seconds and start a whole thread for this…
‘would of been’ —> wrong
One easy way to determine day/night is with Mini-pets, specifically Spooky Skeleton and Spooky Spider; there may be others, as well.
Good luck.
It is frustrating how sometimes it is hard to tell when it is night in certain maps versus dusk, or just really shadowed daytime. I wish that the night sky was darker – it’s not nearly dark enough. Yes, we should still see the stars and moon, but it should be closer to black instead of slightly darker shades of multiple colors. Also doesn’t mean that the landscape needs to be over-shadowed. Just want to see a darker night sky so it’s more obvious. =)
Guild: Moonlit Renegades (Moon)
Highest-Level Toon: Markus Emmerich, 80 Human Scrapper
Yeah also something I want. The night should be darker. In verdant brink it’s kinda dark but especially on core tyria you can’t tell without looking in the sky. Of course it should stay playable at night but a bit darker would be fine, if they ever change it they could change the weather too. Rain should be way stronger and visible
My weapons use Ascalonian Catacombs skins, which glow blue at night. So I always know based on that.
Easy just get an Eternity
They could make the night darker,as it is now in many cases it’s hard to tell the difference.
There’s 5% difference between day and night,it’s more like a cloudy or foggy day.
Or they could add a day/night icon on the mini map,so players can tell.
You can check on outside sources, but if your players can’t tell if it’s night or day just by playing, then what’s the point of having this in game in the first place.
lose a pip,win 2 pips,lose a pip,lose a pip…………..-
-Go go Espartz.-
Right in the middle of the clock, there is a sun/moon icon and timer showing how much time is left for that cycle.
gw2timer is such an infinitely superior site/app than dulfy. I’ve used dulfy for 2 years so I know how clunky and frustrating that site can be. It still amazes me that the Teq timer is still wrong too.

Yes this! Make a sylvari with all AC weapons and never be in doubt again :P
