Forgive me if this has been answered elsewhere but I couldn’t seem to find the answer:
How will the other races treat the Sylvari among them, particularly in the other races’ capital cities? For example, will all of the Sylvari there be rounded up and placed in internment camps just in case even some of them were to later turn into Mordrem?
That isn’t really possible because many players play Sylvari. What you are suggesting might happen is that npc Sylvari are imprisoned while a bunch of player Sylvari run around free as a bird. That doesn’t make sense. They can’t do that, unless they are going to throw out all believability in this world.
They might do a screening process for Sylvari to test whether they have fallen to Mordemoth’s influence (pretty reasonable given what just happened) and write into the story that the PCs have already gone through it. You could see the queues of Sylvari waiting to be tested and any who fail are put on airships to the Altar of Gloss in Arah.
It would be more weird to see Sylvari walking around with no change or action taken to test them.
Iirc, didn’t Anet mention something about the PC being a sylvari impacting the experience of playing HoT?
If so, my money is on the NPCs being more hostile when interacted with/background discrimination between npcs but nothing overly drastic like shipping sylvari off somewhere/rounding them up.
All Sylvari players will be yellow tagged in the expansion maps. It will be up to the players to attack them or not. Also to a Sylvari, all other players are attackable.
Hopefully they are picked on relentlessly. Sylvari and Charr are the worst races ever conceived.

Personally I like OP’s idea but I don’t see it possible due to PC. However what we can have is a bunch of convos in cities about Silvari. And silvari in the Grove feeling scared to leave the Grove due to possibly experience the worst type of discrimination (use your imagination on that one).
Please NEVER add a wild PVP system like WOW on GW, never! PVP is the thing that make many people raging and make they worst. With the new F2P system we’re already seeing more and more people on mists who are insulting others or trolling… Don’t add more of this please. Making a Wild pvp system in a game is the WORST thing to make it unbereable, mentality of the community going worse and worse.
World PvP is incompatible with the core design of GW2, so I wouldn’t worry too much.
I’m glad I made my main Sylvari, because it looks like there’ll be some interesting stuff specific to them in the expansion, such as Mordremoth whispering dark things to you ala C’Thun (your heart will explode).
I think it was a bad idea to make Sylvari villains in the story again. I’m not happy they’re being singled out as inherently evil. Some players are taking the story as an excuse to persecute and verbally harass all Sylvari. It’s not a very good way to promote a co-operative game.
You can already hear anti-Sylvari NPC dialogue in the Silverwastes. Beta had more in Verdant Brink. I expect we’ll see progressively more in the new areas. They may add gossiping NPCs to LA temporarily, but they keep NPCs in LA fairly neutral so that it won’t matter what part of the story your character is working on.
My take: The rest of Tyria hasn’t heard about what happened to the Pact Fleet, and by the time they do the PCs will have sorted everything out so that Sylvari corruption outside Maguuma itself isn’t a big threat.
It does set an interesting precedent. While all the races have different backstories it pretty much comes down to personal preference which one you use with a few minor exceptions like jumping puzzles.
How do we know that tomorrow all the humans will not be wiped out overnight by some plague? Or that asura will not take over the known universe and require all other players to give them protection money? Or that charr do not become the only race that can use the new legendaries? Or that norn do not all decide to leave for another planet?
We will probably see no practical effects, other than in conversations. But I would expect some of those conversations to get really nasty. Might also hear something in those random NPC barks.
Though I think it would be fun to something that has some sort of effect on our Sylvari characters.
It certainly would be interesting to know how Sylvari characters/players would react when constantly listening to those nasty anti-Sylvari conversations in other cities, or even for them to sometimes receive the suddenly-silent treatment upon approaching a normally chatty group of NPC citizens in those other cities.
In the short little time i played the story (got as far as where Rytlock showed up), i made a sylvari revenant for the hell of it… and noticed NPCs acting towards the character as if they dont trust you because you’re a sylvari. Was a very faint and short part of it where you’re at the camp but enough to notice.
