I agree with what you said. I’m “Entitled” to what new players get. 2 games for the price of 1. Split the codes up and give us the free core and HoT expansion for that $50 price tag. I’ll be fine with that option as well. I can always use another account for storage.

Exactly, if I am to pay the extortionate $50 I would feel entitled for the game mode I play to be updated as regularly as the rest. But it didnt and as such I will not pay for this feature pack.

Seem a lot of those who are supported Anet are throwing around the word Entitled.
Well guess what I am entitled!
I am entitled to new WvW maps, WvW bug fixes, WvW hack fixes, banning of WvW hackers, new WvW content, new WvW features etc etc.If I am to pay $50/£35 on HoT I want more than just one well delayed and untested WvW map with untested features et al!
And based on past performances and level of content WvW has received, we are entitled to more!
Unlike some we know what our dollar is worth, and so far what we’ve been presented with with HoT’s content, our dollars are worth more!
So yeah we are entitled, but we also know when not to spend our money on an inferior product; and HoT is an inferior product!

To be very clear, this post isn’t representative of most of the complaints about the HoT pre-purchase information. I suspect OP is playing sockpuppet to skew the picture against those with legitimate concerns.

Obviously that’s extremely stupid.
They aren’t asking new players to forfeit whatever they’ve done in some other game during the last years, so i can’t see why i should have to do that instead.
Also, this is a new product – Heart of Thorns. Not the old core game.
It’s new, we’re paying the same price, at the same place, during the same timeframe.
We should thus receive the same product – an expansion, and a core game.
Being an existing player shouldn’t forfeit either existing progress or a core game code – that would make for an inferior deal, not an equal one. And an equal one is all what we’re asking for.
If they don’t want people to have core game codes…well, that’s nothing i should be concerned upon. If it is an issue, that’s just their problem…they brought it to themselves, since they’re the ones that decided to sell the expansion bundled with the core game.

I’m a bit of a moral nihilist, so the concept of fairness isn’t an inherent property of reality to me. So why what grounds are you entitled?
You’re not entitled. The company offers a product, you pay for it or you don’t. If you don’t, you don’t get it. If you do, you get the product.
But MMOs are a bit different from other products, because they’re supposed to evolve. This game is evolving. If you don’t like the direction of the evolution, you’re entitled to take your business elsewhere.

I think “redact” is more appropriate. Or “explain”, to be honest (since I quoted the exact thing I was calling “content”. The WvW map. But whatever, I’m not seeking gratification here).

So why is it a bad practice on the release of an expansion day?
Adding new stuff at the same time when paid content is in this case makes me feel as if the occasion to release the free ones (the, from what I hear, neglected WvW) is there only becouse of the paid content. So while some players enjoy the free content, the ones who paid (and most probably some of them one use that WvW map) essentialy paid for someone else. Or, at least they can feel that way.
I think if the marketing branch didn’t already show that they don’t much care for player feelings, they may want to consider that.
