Dunno, but sounds like a break is certainly in order if its bothering you that much. I’ve quit smoking and drinking and for each one similar situation – realize that you’d really rather do something else but you can’t due to addiction.
(( A few (running) marathons later and I don’t even look back. ))

Hmmmmm. The question is, are you cheating on Guild Wars 2 when you play other games? I’m going to say it’s fine, as long as you don’t let Guild Wars 2 know about it. Divorces are so messy and paying alimony to a game you know longer play would be the pits. ^^
However, this game is time consuming. Maybe play on alternate days. Guild Wars 2 one day. Another game the next.
ANet may give it to you.

Its seriously starting to bother me. Ive taken two 4-6 month breaks in my 3+ years of gw2, and I dont want to do it again, but I cant seem to play any of my other games while I play gw2, it just consumes too much time. I have a solid 8 games I want to catch up on… but I feel like im cheating on gw2 whenever I turn another one on. I know this sounds crazy but I cant be the only one
i know these feeling, two years ago or so i bought bioshock and tom raider and i was really looking forward to play them but when i had them i played maybe 10 hours each and then suddenly i forgot about them. all my free time i spend on gw2 without even thinking of the other two games until a week later or so i saw a commercial on tv and i thought “oh yeah right, i still have that game”.
time just fly when i play gw2, a bit of daily pvp, bit of brainless zerging in wvw, some fractals and suddenly i spend 4-5 in gw2 and the day is over and i dont have time for the other games..
ps: i think i might reinstall steam now and download both games, because now that im thinking of them i want to try playing them again and also for me its kind of boring right now in gw2 (finally i guess)

Figure out why you feel like that. I mean, clearly the game itself doesn’t care if you play or not.
Is it because you still have friends in this game? Because you’re attached to or invested into your characters? Maybe it’s because you feel that time spent in another game is time you could have spent advancing yourself in GW2?
Once you figure out what parts are holding you, you can figure out how to deal with them. Is it friends? Then let them know that on certain days of the week you take a break from GW2. Advancement? Realize when you’re not in the mood to work on that, and spend that time on another game rather than doing half-hearted work at it. Character attachment? Remake new versions of them in other games.
If you don’t sort it out, there’s a very good chance that you’ll run into some serious burnout at some point.

I really dont know…maybe because they have a duller life than the HoT expansion?

How does one get addicted to this expansion?
Its easier than you’d think. I’m actually quite bored at the moment myself, since most of my gameplay lately consists of getting cash to make ascended weapons for all my toons. I usually turn on the TV and then watch something else while I do stuff. Right now I’m watching crappy subbed anime.
By introducing a more necessary power creep into the game (along with achievements), you’ve essentially got people hooked on a goal. This is different from regular play, where the “play” is the point of the whole thing. Now, by having something that needs to be achieved, you’ve created a situation where people will play when they don’t want to, for the sake of that goal. That lingering desire that eventually the game will be fun will keep them playing for a lot longer than the game actually being fun would.
Operant conditioning.: You keep pushing the buttons trying to recapture the high you got when this game was new and fresh and fun. Now it’s just devolved into a pointless grind, but you just have to keep up on those ‘achievements’. This game is basically dead, and we are the zombies mindlessly inhabiting it.
I’m still in my vacation and won’t be back for another five days, but checking the forums as often as I can. Yep, I’m addicted.

ill say ive had a resurgence. i joined two new guilds like them both and with all the socializing aspect and downright playing together im enjoying the game more then i was a few months ago playing solo. dont think its due to hot but we got a newbies in both guilds probably from hot coming out
I was fairly addicted, played everyday for years, then “Adventures” came along and I quit.
Just log in now for my daily chest and log straight out again.

being honest on higher level nothing as really much changes in the “how i play” fare.
I set up a goal, i work on it, a bit every day.
At start i wanted to explore and discover the majority of the new maps/story, levelling my rev+herald and get the spec shield.
Then went to close the majority of related achievements.
The raid came + i wanted to close my Astralaria.
Now that i’m feeling done there i’m back to pvp, daily fractal, guild raids while running in the empty spaces HoT maps metas.
Honesty there’s a ton of things to do, and i dont genuinely get all this hate floating around.
SURE there are issues in balancing of various types, but people only see the bad, never the good, and in HoT there’s plenty good.
Wat r u, casul?
