Q:

I really think they are all great…..but lets say that Im a ranger and I have all signets skills, if I switch to druid would I still be able to use signets? or will my ranger abilities be “unavailable” and only have druid ones? and vice versa will I be able to have druid abilities while being a ranger? Im a bit confused when people say “this spec does not need X because we already have X”

I could be mistaken but I was under the impression specizalations will lose certain utility skills? (Not all but cushion ones). I may be mistaken though so please don’t take my word for it.

Close but no cigar, what will happen is that we’ll lose access to a trait line slot to use as the elite specialisation.

Or you could mean the change of class mechanics (F1-F5 abilities) where in the case of the guardian and necromancer, we lose access to the original class mechanics in exchange for new ones (the variations of the virtues for the guardian and the new reaper’s shroud to replace the death shroud for necromancer).

the actual utilities themselves will stay as is.

EDIT: just to clarify on the trait line thing, going into heart of thorns, we’ll have access to 3 trait lines that we can spend full points in each line. in order to use a specialisation, one of those three traitlines has to be used for the specialisation, leaving only two trait lines to modify the base class.

So far as we know you’ll be able to use any utilities that you have access to now, plus the option (but not requirement) to use a new heal, a set of 4 new utilities, and a new elite skill.

In your example, yes, you could still use an all-Signet build while having the druid spec in your 3rd spec slot and the ability to equip a staff.

I wonder what your basis for comparison is…”
