This is totally annoying me, why am i so limited in trading. I bought HOT hoping that would do it, but as i figured, it did not bypass the 4 day rule.

Also as i am only in my 20’s, is it worth it to pick up recipes from the Heart Karma merchants when they are unlocked?

Is there any reason to keep the collect treasures, or is it safe to vendor/destroy them?

Dang, can only have 45 characters in title, LOL

The rules are the same for all accounts, as far as new players go.

You can use the Wiki to see all the items you can purchase with Karma; then decide if you want to spend it on Recipes.

Again, you can use the Wiki to see if any Trophies are worth keeping.

The Wiki can be accessed via the link above, or in-game by typing /Wiki (topic of choice) in the chat window.

Welcome to Tyria, and good luck.

The time gate is because of bots and stolen accounts.

Recipes…It’s just Karma, so you can. But you can also go back and get them at any point in the future if you should need them at some point. So…it doesn’t really matter one way or the other. Now, on the new maps, you might – particularly if you find one of them annoying to complete – since you have to complete them again to unlock the vendor in the future.

Item Collection pieces: Once you have confirmed that the item is unlocked on the collection page, vendor it if you can, or destroy it. Some items – like armor or weapons – only unlock on the collection page once you have unlocked the skin, simply having in your inventory does not ALWAYS unlock the item in the collection page, so I always double check.

Yeah i understand why, but that does not make it anyless annoying, LOL. Their has got to be better ways though, like limit amount of items i can buy too like 1 an hour or two.

Also just checked the wiki for first time, not impressed too say the least.

Just a generic question, are some trophies worth keeping for any reason, and what would that reason be?

Some Trophies are used in creating other items, for ‘quests’, etc. You’d have to look up each one. As one becomes more familiar with the game, one knows what is useful, and what is not. And, if there is any question, one can consult the Wiki. I find it quite impressive.

Of course it’s annoying for players. It’s also annoying that I have to lock my front door, buy new mailboxes (because a thief broke the last ones). Criminals require us to go out of our way to secure our valuables and games aren’t immune.

It takes time for ANet’s retailer to confirm that credit cards are legit. Adding a bit of wiggle room, that’s roughly the delay for allowing folks to trade.

In other words, you (and everyone else) have to wait 4 days because that’s how long it takes to be sure that you’re a gamer and not a thief.

Also just checked the wiki for first time, not impressed too say the least.

Could you be more specific? What were you looking for? What did you expect to see?

The GW2 is among the most thorough gaming resources I’ve ever seen. It’s comprehensive, it includes all sorts of information I wouldn’t even know to ask about.

But it’s written by player volunteers, so it’s also only as good as they know to make it. If there’s something wrong or hard to find, please help them make it better by offering details that will allow them to serve your needs better.

You can safely use the “sell junk” button at vendors. Some ‘trophies’ are used for heart quests (and those are typically easily replaced). There are also some items that are used for collections. You can shift-click the item (or items) and then prepend with /wiki to check whether they are needed for anything else — if the wiki doesn’t show a special use, you don’t need to save it.

e.g. /wiki [Shimmering Crystal]

Main example, when i went to look up stuff for crafting, when i hover over ingredients or items nothing pops up. All other games wikis i have played this was not the case, when you hover an item it would pop up on cursor. Other than that just a lot of things will have to get used to, im used to much more colorful full pages for games and different layouts.

Not too worried, ill get used to it and all, after all its not like a play a game because of its wiki resource, LOL.

Do you mean that when you hover over an item in game, that it would pop up the wiki details? The only games I know that do that use officially-edited resources (that is, they pay people to write & vet the articles). This wiki is entirely player run — the only official influence is that ANet runs the servers (so they choose which version of wiki software — although that’s largely decided by the volunteer moderators; ANet mostly decides when).

So this wiki can’t be a “pop-up” inside the game, in case someone chooses to … be too creative with an edit before someone catches it.

I might have misunderstood what you’re looking for, though. It might be something the wiki could do.

Vendors ‘sell’ tab has an option to sell junk – most of what you’re getting early on is just vendor trash that encourages immersion and has you horde and then sell, rather than just getting liquid currency (it makes more sense to get a claw from a skale and have to sell it, than to just get a pile of copper coins – though, I feel like you probably still get a few coppers for your trouble).

Later in the game you’ll get the following kinds of items:
1) same as above, vendor trash that occupies inventory
2) nearly same as above, stuff that looks like trash but actually has a purpose/value
3) trash stuff that’s exotic but has no vendor value and requires you type it’s name before deleting (these items are normally those that come from collections you’ve either bought to unlock or unlocked through achievement)

In general, unless somethings description says it’s a precursor, it’s probably safe to vendor / trading post without a second thought. For a newer account that is leveling, buying karma armor can be worthwhile, but don’t do that when you hit 80 – because it’s a fair bit of karma, and you can’t salvage runes back out of karma armor.

NO, i mean on a wiki when i would hover on an item link, the item full info would pop up, just as it shows ingame. Like Path of Exile wiki and the everquest sites IIRC were the same.

Also is the time restriction supposed to be 4 days, my thing just now updated to 3 days left, grr i could swear it has been saying 4 days all along, thought i was down to `1 day. Very frustrating =/

I think it’s 4 days and 23 hours and 59 minutes (really 5 days, but logging in uses up a few seconds/minutes), and it rounds down.

In this Wiki, instead of hovering, you actually click the link. =)
