Cause it’s clearly stated that : In the future, if we release further Guild Wars 2 expansions, we plan to offer all of the prior expansions, the core game, and the latest expansion for one single purchase price.
I don’t know why I should bother paying 45 euros for now if I can just wait and buy 3 expansions for the same price a bit later, I m not satisfied with the content for 45 euros and I m not satisfied about how anet is dealing with veterans, you want new players? Okay lure new players at all costs but don’t expect to keep all your old customers, those who liked gw first the most and are sadened to see how anet is going.
If you plan on offering everything to new players, than it should just be logical to offer all expansions to old players that bought the game for more than the cost of that expansion + core game pack.
Of course I’ll have to stop playing cause I don’t want to play a game were I can’t enjoy having the same privileges than others players, I m expecting that the pvp balance will be off for all those who don’t own HoT.
Last word, if you plan on buying HoT, wait for the next expansion or the one after, it’ll be the same price, anyway there are still so many bugs in that game, you can peacefully wait for 5 years maybe at this time the core game will be fixed…

Be cause between the the two expansion there is a time span of a couple of years you can’t play the new stuff. If you are fine with this tradeoff only to safe 45€ it’s your decision.

Saving money isn’ t a wrong decision. You should keep that in mind…And i can tell you that this guy isn’ t the only one willing to wait years…keep that in mind too

Well, have fun in vanilla while everyone else is having fun in vanilla and chocolate (then strawberry swirl). ^^

Why wait until the third expansion? Why not wait until the fourth expansion? Or until it’s confirmed that there are no more expansions coming and almost no one plays the game anymore? Why not just never buy or play the game?

Makes perfect sense OP. Why buy now and have a couple years of fun for your money when you can buy a couple years from now… or decide to wait until the fourth expansion?

That’s a valid decision, as long as everyone’s on the same page (which we now are, but only after the statement).

If one pays the stated price for every individual expansion, they do so to experience them right from the beginning. If one does not care about waiting, one can wait until they get cheaper.

It’s like going to the cinema. I can go watch a film once for 8€ (13€ in 3D, so… most films these days, really). Or I can wait six months and buy the DVD/Bluray to watch it as often as I’d like, decreasing the price per viewing significantly, but forcing me to wait longer. My decision. It depends on what I want.

here’s a better idea, don’t buy at all. Enjoy your time or enjoy one of the many free mmorpgs available on the internet. Is it really your loss for not buying? thats what they want you to think, I can tell you its their loss if you don’t. But what you do is up to you to decide

I’m stunned that it took this long for someone to post a perspective this silly and ridiculous (good job community for being better than I thought!).

If you played WoW or (pretty much) any major mmo prior to gw2 launching, you’d be paying $15 a month PLUS paying for each expansion that comes out. Gw2 changed things and a lot of mmos are either (or have become due to failures) buy to play. Now, after 2.5 years of free content and the promise of free content UNTIL the next expansion comes out, you have the ridiculous audacity to think you should never help pay for any content ever again? How absurd this perspective is. Do you think it is free to develop games? Enjoy waiting until expansion 2. I just do NOT understand your point of view at all.
